Flooded with Selfless Actions

Karma streamed

This is a story picked out some experiences shared by a monk, to the public.

Let us try to learn listening to the Inner Self, and stir ourselves from hypocrisy; work selflessly.

This is the story of 2017, when floods occurred in Chennai. There were enormous floods, that the entire city was underwater. The lowland areas were totally destroyed. The people from neighborhood were trying to help the citizens, who were stuck in the flood. In this episode, some people from Ramakrishna Mission appeared actively. (This Ramakrishna Mission is all round India.) The main headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission sent six monks, to help the poor and needy in Chennai. The six monks travelled from Calcutta to Chennai. In the flood-stricken zone of Chennai, there was a school. The lower floors of the school were filled with water. The monks were asked to stay in upper storeys. They stayed overnight in the school. They were very tired, they slept.

In neighborhood, there lived a rich old man. He used to wake up between 4 to 6 in the morning, i.e. in Brahma Muhurta. He used to wake up, start his routine, after meditation. On that day, while he was doing meditation, a beautiful divine female lady appeared and asked him to stop doing meditation, to get up, awaken his wife and daughter-in-law, and make breakfast for six people. She told him to serve that to the hungry monks, staying in the school. He didn’t believe, and just ignored the dream, got up and started his routine. Despite ignoring the fact, She appeared several times before him and asked to stop neglecting and start working. The incident became so real, that he asked his wife and daughter-in-law, and asked them to make breakfast for six people. The ladies were confused. The man stood obstinately, and forced them to cook food, and was ready to help them. They prepared the breakfast. He left to serve them.

At 6 a.m., the old man knocked at the school gate. One of the monks opened the gate and saw man carrying tiffins in both his hands. The man said that he had brought food for them, as they had been hungry since two days. The monk asked him about the way he came to know about them, and their plight of hunger.

By that time, the man began serving the food to them. Those monks had a card on which resided the photographs of Ramakrishna Paramhansa Ji, Maa Sharda, and Swami Vivekananda Ji. Excited seeing the figures, he asked them about the Mother. The monks paid respects to Her and told about Her. With a stupendous look, the man said that she was the one who appeared before him, while meditation, and had asked him to prepare food for her children, dwelling in a flooded school.

She was no other than Maa Sharda. She herself came and asked him to do karma (actions). The monks were in heavy tears. They thanked Her and said that their requirements were quenched by Mother. She gave Her vision to a common man, and helped them, despite their attainments (both materialistic and spiritual) were hazy.

If we surrender ourselves to God, God Himself comes to help us.
