Today’s story is about Surdas Ji. Surdas Ji was a very famous blind saint in India. He couldn’t see right from birth. You can’t do a lot of things when you are unable to see. Surdas was blind from birth, so he trained in a way to use other senses and perform all his tasks.
Right from birth, his parents taught him, “God is there, God does everything, and thank you, God.” He knew that some energy in the form of God was always with him, and his parents were believers in Lord Shri Krishna.
Surdas Ji’s parents used to describe to him, “How beautiful Radha Rani and Shri Krishna are.” His parents not only explained to him the physical forms of Radha Rani and Shri Krishna but also what bliss is and the six tenets of life. They also taught him how to become that.
He was very lucky that his parents were good, and his deeds helped him get initiated by Valabhacharya Ji. After his initiation, he was always on the spiritual move. His love grew so much that he could see everything. Things that we cannot see with our opened eyes, he could see them as well.
He used to sing and describe the way Pandit Ji decorated and had Shri Krishna and Radha Rani in the mandir on a daily basis. People around him knew he was blind. Pandit Ji always used to think, “How is he able to see what clothes Shri Krishna and Radha Rani are wearing?” He thought someone was coming to inform him beforehand about the Singhara.
Pandit Ji and others wanted to know the actual reason behind it, so they decided to take a test with Surdas Ji. One day, behind the curtains, Pandit Shri Krishan took a bath and made Krishna Ji wear only a nappy and a smile towel on his neck. Ever before the curtains were removed, Surdas Ji started saying, “Oo God, God, today you gave me darshan in your original form.” Listening to Pandit Ji, one becomes amazed. He thought, “How does Surdas Ji get to know about this?
Radha Rani, who was behind the curtains, took the form of a three-year-old girl, and she has a beautiful anklet on her feet. She was wearing a beautiful dress, and she danced and sat in Surdas Ji’s lap.
Surdas Ji and Radha Rani got to see each other, but other people around could not see Radha Rani. Pandit Ji didn’t get his answer, so he decided to open the curtains. Pandit Ji had decorated Radhi Rani Ji so beautifully, just like the Radhi Rani who is sitting in Surdas Ji’s lap. As soon as the Singhar of Radhi Rani Ji finished, Pandit Ji opened the curtains, but nobody was able to see Radha Rani Ji’s idol.
Everyone was shocked and worried. They started thinking about what was happening. Radha Rani is sitting on Surdas Ji’s lap and smiling. Surdas Ji is requesting Radha Rani, “You loving, caring Maa, give darshan to everyone. They can’t see you, so please give them your darshan.” With so much love Shri Krishan had for Radha Rani Surdas Ji, he said, “Maa, give them your darshan.”
Radha Rani goes back to the place where her idol was kept. People couldn’t see her, but they could hear the sweet sound of her anklet bells. In a few seconds, she was back at the place where her idol was kept.
Pandit Ji rubbed his eyes, but still nobody understood what exactly happened. Everyone came to Surdas Ji and asked him to forgive them.
Surdas Ji has beautifully explained this event in his book. Where he explains how beautiful the darshan of Radha Rani Ji was. Surdas Ji has mentioned, “O lord, you haven’t given me the eyes to see the rubbish world, but I am extremely grateful that you have given me the inner eyes so that I can see you.”

A lady said, “You have learned that Surdas Ji was blind, but he saw God with his inner eyes. His love for God was immense.” Teacher said, “As long as you do not drink the milk, who will know the taste of the milk? Similarly, if you are blind and have never seen any colour and I describe to you the colour red, you will not be able to imagine the colour. But Surdas Ji was able to see the colour, and he used it to describe what clothes God was wearing. How is Surdas Ji able to see all of these things? When your mind is completely focused on God and you become one with Him, no other desire is left. You get the qualities of God, through which you can see everything. You should have complete faith, and your mind should always be focused on God.”
A lady said, “Like Surdas Ji was not able to see the world but only saw God, we should also be like that.” The teacher said, “Yes, living in this world, you only see God and not worldly things. Good.”
A lady said, “I have learned that we have eyes, but we can’t see God with those eyes, but Surdas Ji saw God as blind. That is the greatness of his love for God.” Teacher said, “You told me about Surdas Ji, but what have you learned for yourself from the story?” She said, “We need to have that love for God.” Teacher asked, “How would you get that love for God? You should keep repeating his name, and whatever you do, see that God is doing through you, for you.”
A boy said, “I have learned we don’t have to see God with the eyes with which we see the world. We have to see God with our inner eyes, and when we see God with our inner eyes, we can become one with him.” Teacher said, “With your inner eyes, you can see inside, right? So, tell God to open the inner eyes through which I can see you. At this age, if you really ask God to open the eyes with which you can see himself, you will be able to see him.”
Someone said, “I am doing everything you told me to do, but I am not able to feel it.” Teacher said, “I will explain your trouble in front of everyone because we are all in the same boat. Why? Our parents and grandparents have never seen God and they didn’t even know if God actually exists. They know about heaven and hell. If you do good you go to heaven and if you do bad you go to hell. So, we are scared to do bad things and good things we do out of greed of going to heaven. We grow up with this upbringing so this is instilled within us due to which are facing trouble in becoming one with God now. But due to our good deeds of previous births, we got a Guru. It might take time but have faith that you will become one with God. Do not be disheartened.”
सूरदास जी
आज की कहानी सूरदास जी के बारे में है। सूरदास जी भारत के एक बहुत प्रसिद्ध अंधे संत थे। वह जन्म से ही ठीक से देख नहीं सकता था। जब आप देखने में असमर्थ होते हैं तो आप बहुत सी चीजें नहीं कर सकते। सूरदास जन्म से अंधे थे, इसलिए उन्होंने अन्य इंद्रियों का उपयोग करने और अपने सभी कार्यों को करने के लिए एक तरह से प्रशिक्षित किया।
जन्म से ही, उसके माता-पिता ने उसे सिखाया, “भगवान वहां है, भगवान सब कुछ करता है, और धन्यवाद, भगवान। वह जानता था कि भगवान के रूप में कुछ ऊर्जा हमेशा उसके साथ थी, और उसके माता-पिता भगवान श्री कृष्ण में विश्वास करते थे।
सूरदास जी के माता-पिता उन्हें बताते थे, “राधा रानी और श्री कृष्ण कितने सुंदर हैं। उनके माता-पिता ने उन्हें न केवल राधा रानी और श्री कृष्ण के भौतिक रूपों के बारे में समझाया, बल्कि आनंद क्या है और जीवन के छह सिद्धांतों को भी समझाया। उन्होंने उसे यह भी सिखाया कि यह कैसे बनना है।
वह बहुत भाग्यशाली था कि उसके माता-पिता अच्छे थे, और उसके कर्मों ने उसे वल्लभाचार्य जी द्वारा दीक्षा प्राप्त करने में मदद की। अपनी दीक्षा के बाद, वह हमेशा आध्यात्मिक चाल पर थे। उसका प्यार इतना बढ़ गया कि वह सब कुछ देख सकता था। जिन चीजों को हम अपनी खुली आंखों से नहीं देख सकते, वह उन्हें भी देख सकता था।
वह गाते थे और पंडित जी के सजाने के तरीके का वर्णन करते थे और दैनिक आधार पर मंदिर में श्री कृष्ण और राधा रानी थे। उसके आसपास के लोग जानते थे कि वह अंधा है। पंडित जी हमेशा सोचते थे कि श्रीकृष्ण और राधा रानी ने कौन-कौन से वस्त्र धारण किए हैं, यह कैसे देख पा रहे हैं? उसने सोचा कि सिंघाड़े के बारे में पहले से ही कोई उसे सूचित करने आ रहा है।
पंडित जी और अन्य लोग इसके पीछे का वास्तविक कारण जानना चाहते थे, इसलिए उन्होंने सूरदास जी के साथ एक परीक्षा लेने का फैसला किया। एक दिन पर्दे के पीछे पंडित श्री कृष्ण ने स्नान किया और कृष्ण जी को केवल नैपी और गले में मुस्कान तौलिया पहनाया। पर्दा हटने से पहले ही सूरदास जी कहने लगे कि ऊ भगवान, भगवान, आज आपने मुझे अपने मूल रूप में दर्शन दिए। पंडित जी की बात सुनकर कोई भी चकित हो जाता है। उन्होंने सोचा, “सूरदास जी को इस बारे में कैसे पता चलता है?
पर्दे के पीछे बैठी राधा रानी ने तीन साल की बच्ची का रूप धारण किया, और उसके पैरों पर एक खूबसूरत पायल है। उसने एक सुंदर पोशाक पहनी हुई थी, और वह नृत्य कर रही थी और सूरदास जी की गोद में बैठ गई।
सूरदास जी और राधा रानी को एक-दूसरे के दर्शन तो मिले, लेकिन आसपास के अन्य लोग राधा रानी के दर्शन नहीं कर सके। पंडित जी को उनका जवाब नहीं मिला, इसलिए उन्होंने पर्दे खोलने का फैसला किया। पंडित जी ने राधी रानी जी को इतनी खूबसूरती से सजाया था, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे रिद्धि रानी सूरदास जी की गोद में बैठी हैं। राधि रानी जी का सिंघार खत्म होते ही पंडित जी ने पर्दे खोल दिए, लेकिन राधा रानी जी की मूर्ति को कोई नहीं देख पाया।
हर कोई हैरान और चिंतित था। वे सोचने लगे कि क्या हो रहा है। राधा रानी सूरदास जी की गोद में बैठकर मुस्कुरा रही हैं। सूरदास जी राधा रानी से अनुरोध कर रहे हैं, “आप प्यार करती हैं, देखभाल करने वाली मां, सभी को दर्शन दें। वे आपको देख नहीं सकते हैं, इसलिए कृपया उन्हें अपना दर्शन दें। राधा रानी सूरदास जी के प्रति श्री कृष्ण के मन में इतना प्रेम था, उन्होंने कहा, “माँ, उन्हें अपना दर्शन दें।
राधा रानी वापस उस स्थान पर जाती हैं जहां उनकी मूर्ति रखी गई थी। लोग उसे देख नहीं सकते थे, लेकिन वे उसकी पायल की घंटी की मधुर आवाज़ सुन सकते थे। कुछ ही सेकंड में, वह उस स्थान पर वापस आ गई जहां उसकी मूर्ति रखी गई थी।
पंडित जी ने अपनी आँखें मलीं, लेकिन फिर भी किसी को समझ में नहीं आया कि वास्तव में क्या हुआ था। सब लोग सूरदास जी के पास आए और उन्हें माफ करने के लिए कहा।
सूरदास जी ने अपनी पुस्तक में इस घटना को खूबसूरती से समझाया है। जहां वह बताते हैं कि राधा रानी जी का दर्शन कितना सुंदर था। सूरदास जी ने उल्लेख किया है, “हे प्रभु, आपने मुझे बेकार दुनिया को देखने के लिए आँखें नहीं दी हैं, लेकिन मैं अत्यंत आभारी हूं कि आपने मुझे आंतरिक आँखें दी हैं ताकि मैं आपको देख सकूं।
प्रतिक्रियाएं-
किसी ने कहा, “जैसा कि आपने कहा, भगवान हर हिस्से में है, इसलिए हमें अपने दिमाग को भगवान पर केंद्रित करना चाहिए। हमें भौतिकवादी चीजों को पीछे छोड़ना होगा और भगवान पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना होगा। टीचर ने कहा, “नहीं, आपको कुछ भी छोड़ने की जरूरत नहीं है। सूरदास जी ने कुछ भी नहीं छोड़ा। आपको सब कुछ करना है, लेकिन इस भावना के साथ कि आप कर्ता नहीं हैं, भगवान है। चीजों को पीछे छोड़ने से आपको कुछ भी हासिल नहीं होगा। अपना जीवन कमल की तरह जिएं।
एक महिला ने कहा, “आपने सीखा है कि सूरदास जी अंधे थे, लेकिन उन्होंने भगवान को अपनी आंतरिक आंखों से देखा। भगवान के लिए उनका प्यार अपार था। शिक्षक ने कहा, “जब तक तुम दूध नहीं पीओगे, तब तक दूध का स्वाद कौन जानेगा? इसी तरह, यदि आप अंधे हैं और आपने कभी कोई रंग नहीं देखा है और मैं आपको लाल रंग का वर्णन करता हूं, तो आप रंग की कल्पना नहीं कर पाएंगे। लेकिन सूरदास जी रंग को देखने में सक्षम थे, और उन्होंने इसका उपयोग यह वर्णन करने के लिए किया कि भगवान ने कौन से कपड़े पहने थे। सूरदास जी इन सब चीजों को कैसे देख पा रहे हैं? जब आपका मन पूरी तरह से ईश्वर पर केंद्रित हो जाता है और आप उसके साथ एक हो जाते हैं, तो कोई अन्य इच्छा नहीं बचती है। आपको ईश्वर के गुण मिलते हैं, जिनके माध्यम से आप सब कुछ देख सकते हैं। आपको पूर्ण विश्वास होना चाहिए, और आपका मन हमेशा भगवान पर केंद्रित होना चाहिए।
एक महिला ने कहा, “जैसे सूरदास जी संसार को नहीं देख पा रहे थे लेकिन केवल भगवान को देखते थे, हमें भी वैसा ही होना चाहिए। शिक्षक ने कहा, “हाँ, इस संसार में रहते हुए, आप केवल भगवान को देखते हैं, सांसारिक चीजों को नहीं। अच्छा है.”
एक महिला ने कहा, “मैंने सीखा है कि हमारे पास आँखें हैं, लेकिन हम भगवान को उन आंखों से नहीं देख सकते हैं, लेकिन सूरदास जी ने भगवान को अंधा देखा। यह परमेश्वर के लिए उसके प्रेम की महानता है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “आपने मुझे सूरदास जी के बारे में बताया, लेकिन आपने कहानी से अपने लिए क्या सीखा है? उसने कहा, “हमें परमेश्वर के लिए उस प्रेम की आवश्यकता है। शिक्षक ने पूछा, “आप परमेश्वर के लिए यह प्रेम कैसे प्राप्त करेंगे? तुम्हें उसका नाम दोहराते रहना चाहिए, और जो कुछ भी तुम करते हो, देखो कि परमेश्वर तुम्हारे माध्यम से कर रहा है, तुम्हारे लिए।
एक लड़के ने कहा, “मैंने सीखा है कि हमें भगवान को उन आंखों से देखने की ज़रूरत नहीं है जिनसे हम दुनिया को देखते हैं। हमें परमेश्वर को अपनी आंतरिक आँखों से देखना होगा, और जब हम परमेश्वर को अपनी आंतरिक आँखों से देखते हैं, तो हम उसके साथ एक हो सकते हैं। शिक्षक ने कहा, “अपनी आंतरिक आँखों से, आप अंदर देख सकते हैं, है ना? इसलिए, परमेश्वर से कहो कि वह आंतरिक आँखें खोले जिसके माध्यम से मैं तुम्हें देख सकता हूँ। इस उम्र में, यदि आप वास्तव में भगवान से आंखें खोलने के लिए कहते हैं जिससे आप खुद को देख सकते हैं, तो आप उसे देख पाएंगे।
किसी ने कहा, “मैं वह सब कुछ कर रहा हूं जो आपने मुझे करने के लिए कहा था, लेकिन मैं इसे महसूस नहीं कर पा रहा हूं। टीचर ने कहा, “मैं आपकी परेशानी सबके सामने समझाऊंगा क्योंकि हम सब एक ही नाव में हैं। क्यों? हमारे माता-पिता और दादा-दादी ने कभी परमेश्वर को नहीं देखा है और वे यह भी नहीं जानते थे कि परमेश्वर वास्तव में मौजूद है या नहीं। वे स्वर्ग और नरक के बारे में जानते हैं। यदि आप अच्छा करते हैं तो आप स्वर्ग में जाते हैं और यदि आप बुरा करते हैं तो आप नरक में जाते हैं। इसलिए, हम बुरे काम करने से डरते हैं और अच्छे काम करते हैं जो हम स्वर्ग जाने के लालच में करते हैं। हम इस परवरिश के साथ बड़े होते हैं इसलिए यह हमारे भीतर पैदा होता है जिसके कारण अब भगवान के साथ एक होने में परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। लेकिन पिछले जन्मों के हमारे अच्छे कर्मों के कारण, हमें गुरु मिला। इसमें समय लग सकता है लेकिन विश्वास रखें कि आप भगवान के साथ एक हो जाएंगे। निराश मत होइए.”
