Hanuman Chalisa starts and ends with a Guru – it starts with “Shri Guru Charan Saroj Raj” and ends with “Jai jai jai Hanuman Gosahin, Kripa karo guru dev ki nyahin”. So, the whole Hanuman Chalisa highlights the Guru. There is a guru in every human’s life. If something is lost, we can find it. If someone is sad or disappointed, we can make them happy. But that is not the case with God. God is neither lost nor angry with you because you yourself are God. Guru’s job is to make you realise that. It is mentioned in all religious texts, be they the Quran, Bible, or Gita, that God is one and He is everywhere. He is omnipotent and omniscient. When He is present everywhere, then is He not present in you? He is. And he is not lost; it is only you who have not realised him till now.

In this, the Guru is telling you that if you think of yourself as intelligent, then you will get yourself degrees and certificates but might not find God. Hence, surrender to God. Buddha became the enlightened one by surrendering his individual identity. When you are nothing, you will receive everything. When you say I know everything, no one can help you become Buddha. So, just remember God in every moment and surrender to Him, as He is the doer and not you. If you do that, you will get everything: strength, energy, knowledge, and enlightenment. All your negativity will be removed.
Let me tell you a story about this. Tulsidas Ji wrote this. His guru was Hanuman ji, and Hanuman ji’s is Surya dev. In Chitrakut, near the bank of the river Mandakini, Tulsidas ji was rubbing Chandan with his tears instead of water for his Lord.
Seeing this, Lord Ram presented himself in front of Tulsidas Ji in the form of a child. The small boy said to Tulsidas Ji, “Baba, give this Chandan to me.” Tulsidas Ji replied, Anyways, I am upset; why don’t you take it from someone else? There are so many people here. Please don’t disturb me.
So, the boy (who is Lord Ram) held the hands of Tulsidas Ji and asked, “Don’t give me the sandal paste, but tell me why you are crying.”
Tulsidas Ji replied, “Because I am feeling the pangs of separation from my Lord Ram.”
Little Boy says, “This means your God is heartless. You are crying, and he does not come to you.”
Tulsidas Ji, with tears in his eyes, holds the boy’s hands and says, “Please don’t say this to my God. He is loving and caring. He loves us.”
Then the boy exclaims, “Then why are you crying?” and then the boy disappears. Tulsidas Ji continues to rub the sandalwood.
Now, Hanuman Ji comes in the form of a parrot and starts talking to Tulsidas Ji, saying, “Baba, that kid who is running away is only Lord Ram.” Tulsidas Ji was wondering from where the sound came. He ran and got a hold of the kid. Then Tulsidas Ji saw Ram in his divine form.
This is how the value of Guru comes into play. God is within us, but we don’t realise it. Tulsidas Ji was not able to identify Ram, who was in front of him. His Guru, Lord Hanuman, helped him realise it.

Someone said, “From the story, I understood the importance of Guru. A guru comes into the life of a student when the student is ready. Students’ innocence, devotion, and faith are required. If you do not have faith, then everything is useless. Guru wants his student to realise God, but it depends on the student’s faith and devotion. If you really want to be on a spiritual path, be innocent, like a newborn child. The most important thing for a student is to surrender. Tulsidas Ji is incontinently sitting and rubbing sandalwood without knowing whether Ram Ji will come or not.” Teacher said, “Tulsidas Ji’s journey to reach the point where he was rubbing sandalwood was way more difficult than our journey. We have met our guruji very easily. We just know the tip of the iceberg of his journey; nothing is easy.” He said, “I have a question. Do people have to struggle in Kalyug as well?” Teacher said, “In every Yug, the struggle is there, but in Kalyug, the name of God is Aadhar. If you only repeated God’s name, you could feel his presence. The need for a guru was there in Satyug, but in Satyug, people were pure, so the guru just had to guide them so they could reach God. In Kalyug, the Guru makes you free from your past karma and takes your problem on his or her body. Like in Kalyug, Jesus Christ died at an early age, and he took with him the karma of everyone. Vivekananda Ji died before forty, as did Ramkrishna Paramhansa. In Kalyug, the guru is very important. If the guru has asked you to do something, do it without giving it any second thought.”
A boy said, “I have understood that Guruji has said you will become one with God, and then I will become one with him. There should not be any doubt about it. We just need to have faith, and I could see the change in my daily life. I have a question. I tried to control myself to not get angry, but when suddenly bad words come out of my mouth, I feel bad. Why do I say those words?” Teacher said, “Because whatever we have done in our previous lives, we are getting the result of it in this life. As you have faith in this life and remember God always, a big problem becomes small. When you get angry, you are not in control of yourself; Maya overpowers you. When you surrender twenty-four-seven and remember you are not the doer, then it will not happen. If you keep on practising, it will happen.”
A lady said, “Tulsidas was rubbing sandalwood with much love for Ram Ji, but when Ram Ji came, he was not able to identify him. So without the help of a Guru, we cannot identify God, even if he comes in front of us. We know God is there, but without Guru, we will keep on wandering in this world. We should keep our Guru first.” Teacher said, “You have to believe God is there because Guruji is saying it and follow whatever Guru is asking you to do.”
Someone said, “I have learned that whatever Guruji is saying, we should follow that without applying any logic. When we apply logic, things go wrong, and I have experienced that in life. When I am surrendered, everything falls into place, and whatever questions come, I get the answer to those as well.”

हनुमान चालीसा एक गुरु के साथ शुरू और समाप्त होती है – यह “श्री गुरु चरण सरोज राज” से शुरू होती है और “जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाहिन, कृपा करो गुरु देव की न्याहिन” के साथ समाप्त होती है। तो, पूरी हनुमान चालीसा गुरु पर प्रकाश डालती है। हर इंसान के जीवन में एक गुरु होता है। यदि कुछ खो गया है, तो हम इसे पा सकते हैं। अगर कोई दुखी या निराश है, तो हम उन्हें खुश कर सकते हैं। लेकिन परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसा नहीं है। परमेश्वर न तो आप से हारा है और न ही नाराज है क्योंकि आप स्वयं परमेश्वर हैं। गुरु का काम आपको इस बात का एहसास दिलाना है। सभी धार्मिक ग्रंथों में, चाहे वे कुरान, बाइबिल या गीता हों, उल्लेख किया गया है कि भगवान एक है और वह हर जगह है। वह सर्वशक्तिमान और सर्वज्ञ है। जब वह हर जगह मौजूद है, तो क्या वह आप में मौजूद नहीं है? वह है। और वह खोया नहीं है; यह केवल आप हैं जिन्होंने अब तक उसे महसूस नहीं किया है।

इसमें गुरु आपको बता रहे हैं कि अगर आप खुद को बुद्धिमान समझते हैं तो आप खुद को डिग्री और सर्टिफिकेट तो मिल जाएंगे लेकिन शायद भगवान न मिलें। अतः ईश्वर के प्रति समर्पण करो। बुद्ध अपनी व्यक्तिगत पहचान का समर्पण करके प्रबुद्ध बन गए। जब आप कुछ भी नहीं हैं, तो आपको सब कुछ मिलेगा। जब तुम कहते हो कि मैं सब कुछ जानता हूं, तो कोई भी तुम्हें बुद्ध बनने में मदद नहीं कर सकता। इसलिए, हर पल में भगवान को याद करें और उनके प्रति समर्पण करें, क्योंकि वह कर्ता है और आप नहीं। यदि आप ऐसा करते हैं, तो आपको सब कुछ मिलेगा: शक्ति, ऊर्जा, ज्ञान और आत्मज्ञान। आपकी सारी नकारात्मकता दूर हो जाएगी।
मैं आपको इस बारे में एक कहानी बताता हूं। यह तुलसीदास जी ने लिखा था। उनके गुरु हनुमान जी थे, और हनुमान जी के सूर्य देव हैं। चित्रकूट में मंदाकिनी नदी के तट के पास तुलसीदास जी अपने प्रभु के लिए पानी की जगह चंदन को अपने आंसुओं से रगड़ रहे थे।
यह देखकर भगवान राम ने स्वयं को बालक रूप में तुलसीदास जी के समक्ष प्रस्तुत किया। छोटे बालक ने तुलसीदास जी से कहा, “बाबा, यह चंदन मुझे दे दो। तुलसीदास जी ने उत्तर दिया, वैसे भी, मैं परेशान हूं; आप इसे किसी और से क्यों नहीं लेते? यहां बहुत सारे लोग हैं। कृपया मुझे परेशान न करें।
तो, लड़के (जो भगवान राम हैं) ने तुलसीदास जी के हाथों को पकड़ा और पूछा, “मुझे चंदन का पेस्ट न दें, लेकिन मुझे बताएं कि आप क्यों रो रहे हैं।
तुलसीदास जी ने उत्तर दिया, “क्योंकि मैं अपने भगवान राम से वियोग की पीड़ा महसूस कर रहा हूं।
छोटा लड़का कहता है, “इसका मतलब है कि आपका भगवान हृदयहीन है। तुम रो रहे हो, और वह तुम्हारे पास नहीं आता।
आंखों में आंसू लिए तुलसीदास जी उस लड़के का हाथ पकड़कर कहते हैं, “कृपया मेरे भगवान से ऐसा मत कहो। वह प्यार करने वाला और देखभाल करने वाला है। वह हमें प्यार करता है।
फिर लड़का कहता है, “फिर तुम क्यों रो रहे हो?” और फिर लड़का गायब हो जाता है। तुलसीदास जी चंदन मलते रहते हैं।
अब, हनुमान जी तोते के रूप में आते हैं और तुलसीदास जी से बात करना शुरू करते हैं, “बाबा, वह बच्चा जो भाग रहा है वह केवल भगवान राम है। तुलसीदास जी सोच रहे थे कि आवाज कहां से आई। वह दौड़ा और बच्चे को पकड़ लिया। तब तुलसीदास जी ने राम को उनके दिव्य रूप में देखा।
इस तरह गुरु का मूल्य खेल में आता है। ईश्वर हमारे भीतर है, लेकिन हम इसे महसूस नहीं करते हैं। तुलसीदास जी राम को पहचान नहीं पा रहे थे, जो उनके सामने थे। उनके गुरु, भगवान हनुमान ने उन्हें इसे साकार करने में मदद की।

किसी ने कहा, “कथा से मुझे गुरु का महत्व समझ में आया। एक गुरु एक छात्र के जीवन में तब आता है जब छात्र तैयार होता है। छात्रों की मासूमियत, भक्ति और विश्वास की आवश्यकता है। यदि आपके पास विश्वास नहीं है, तो सब कुछ बेकार है। गुरु चाहते हैं कि उनका छात्र ईश्वर का साक्षात्कार करे, लेकिन यह छात्र की आस्था और भक्ति पर निर्भर करता है। यदि आप वास्तव में आध्यात्मिक पथ पर होना चाहते हैं, तो एक नवजात बच्चे की तरह निर्दोष बनें। एक छात्र के लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात आत्मसमर्पण करना है। तुलसीदास जी बिना यह जाने कि राम जी आएंगे या नहीं, बिना यह जाने कि राम जी आएंगे या नहीं, चंदन की लकड़ी रगड़ रहे हैं। शिक्षक ने कहा, “तुलसीदास जी जिस मुकाम पर चंदन रगड़ रहे थे, वहां तक पहुंचने की उनकी यात्रा हमारी यात्रा से कहीं अधिक कठिन थी। हम अपने गुरुजी से बहुत आसानी से मिले हैं। हम बस उनकी यात्रा के हिमशैल की नोक जानते हैं; कुछ भी आसान नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘मेरा एक सवाल है। क्या कलयुग में भी लोगों को संघर्ष करना पड़ता है? शिक्षक ने कहा, “हर युग में संघर्ष होता है, लेकिन कलयुग में ईश्वर का नाम आधार है। यदि तुम केवल परमेश्वर का नाम दोहराते हो, तो तुम उसकी उपस्थिति को महसूस कर सकते हो। सतयुग में गुरु की आवश्यकता थी, लेकिन सतयुग में लोग पवित्र थे, इसलिए गुरु को बस उनका मार्गदर्शन करना था ताकि वे भगवान तक पहुंच सकें। कलयुग में गुरु आपको आपके पिछले कर्मों से मुक्त करते हैं और आपकी समस्या को अपने शरीर पर उतार लेते हैं। जैसे कलयुग में ईसा मसीह की मृत्यु कम उम्र में ही हो गई थी और वे सभी के कर्म अपने साथ ले गए थे। विवेकानंद जी की मृत्यु चालीस से पहले हो गई, जैसा कि रामकृष्ण परमहंस ने किया था। कलयुग में गुरु का बहुत महत्व है। यदि गुरु ने आपको कुछ करने के लिए कहा है, तो इसे बिना कोई दूसरा विचार किए करें।
एक लड़के ने कहा, “मैं समझ गया हूँ कि गुरुजी ने कहा है कि तुम ईश्वर के साथ एक हो जाओगे, और फिर मैं उसके साथ एक हो जाऊंगा। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं होना चाहिए। हमें बस विश्वास करने की जरूरत है, और मैं अपने दैनिक जीवन में बदलाव देख सकता हूं। मेरा एक सवाल है। मैंने गुस्सा न हो इसके लिए खुद पर काबू रखने की कोशिश की, लेकिन जब अचानक मेरे मुंह से बुरे शब्द निकलते हैं, तो मुझे बुरा लगता है। मैं ये शब्द क्यों कह रहा हूं? शिक्षक ने कहा, “क्योंकि हमने अपने पिछले जन्मों में जो कुछ भी किया है, उसका फल हमें इस जन्म में मिल रहा है। जैसा कि आप इस जीवन में विश्वास रखते हैं और हमेशा भगवान को याद करते हैं, एक बड़ी समस्या छोटी हो जाती है। जब आप क्रोधित होते हैं, तो आप अपने आप पर नियंत्रण नहीं रखते हैं; माया तुम पर हावी हो जाती है। जब आप सत्ताईस समर्पण कर देंगे और याद रखेंगे कि आप कर्ता नहीं हैं, तो ऐसा नहीं होगा। अगर आप अभ्यास जारी रखते हो तो ऐसा होगा।
एक महिला ने कहा, “तुलसीदास राम जी के लिए बहुत प्यार से चंदन रगड़ रहे थे, लेकिन जब राम जी आए, तो वह उन्हें पहचान नहीं पा रहे थे। इसलिए गुरु की सहायता के बिना, हम भगवान की पहचान नहीं कर सकते, भले ही वह हमारे सामने आए। हम जानते हैं कि ईश्वर है, लेकिन गुरु के बिना, हम इस दुनिया में भटकते रहेंगे। हमें अपने गुरु को पहले रखना चाहिए। शिक्षक ने कहा, “आपको विश्वास करना होगा कि भगवान वहां है क्योंकि गुरुजी यह कह रहे हैं और जो भी गुरु आपको करने के लिए कह रहे हैं उसका पालन करें।
किसी ने कहा, “मैंने सीखा है कि गुरूजी जो कुछ भी कह रहे हैं, हमें बिना कोई तर्क लगाए उसका पालन करना चाहिए। जब हम तर्क लागू करते हैं, तो चीजें गलत हो जाती हैं, और मैंने जीवन में इसका अनुभव किया है। जब मैं आत्मसमर्पण कर देता हूं, तो सब कुछ ठीक हो जाता है, और जो भी सवाल आते हैं, मुझे उनका जवाब भी मिल जाता है।
