One day, Thakur Ji and His disciples were sitting in the temple garden in Dakshineshwar. One of the disciples asked Thakur Ji about the ways through which they could lend their burdens to Lord, without taking them back. Thakur Ji smiled and began narrating a parable….
There lived a man, who lived in his little hermitage. He was a grave ascetic by heart, and had attained the six tenets of life. He used to entitle every event as a Divine wish of Rama (here, Rama means the Almighty Eternity). One night, he was unable to sleep on his bed. He sat up and went outside. He sat out on the pavement, and began singing hymns of praise to Almighty, blissful chantings filled the air. In that midnight, a gang of robbers had robbed a house of a businessman. They were walking back to their asylum, after the job, with all the bounties. They saw the man, chanting the Name. Seeing the ragged outfit, they thought that he could serve their purpose of carrying their luggage of bounties. They approached him and asked him to carry the baggage. He agreed and enunciated that everything was happening under the Sweet Will of Lord. He picked up the baggage, and began walking in a merry mood. As the sun peeped through the horizon, they heard the sound of sirens approaching them. All the thieves ran away, leaving the man unnoticed. The police officials arrived and found the man with the bounties, thus caught him. He went with them, calling the event to the Sweet Will of Lord. In the police station, he was questioned about the reasons of the crime. He said that he had not done anything, and then narrated the entire incident. He said that he was sitting on the road side, under the Divine Will, the robbers approached him, under the Divine Will, they asked him to carry the load, under the Divine Will, and they ran away listening the horns and he was caught as a thief, under he Divine Will. Listening to the testimony of the man, the police officials realized that he was a noble man. Then, he was summoned in the court for the official judgment. He told the judge that he was summoned in the court, under the Divine Will, and the entire set of events were also its part. The owner of the bounties was also present on that day. He asked the jury to forgive the man, as he could not have done the theft, and moreover he had received his assets. The jury, too concluded the case, and said that he was forgiven by the norms of judiciary, under the Divine Will of Lord. He paid respects to the jury and told that he was leaving the court under the Divine Will of Lord.
The narration was concluded. Then, the disciples asked Thakur Ji about the reason for which the man was thrown into problems. Thakur Ji smiled and said that that might be the Sweet Divine Will of Lord, for testing his acquaintance with the six tenets of Life. The man might had forced the thieves in his previous births, to carry out some tasks for him, thus he was getting rid of those fruits, with the Name of Lord, at his lips.
