Once there was a head monk in a Buddhist monastery. All the monks worked very hard in the monastery. The head monk thought, “My colleagues are a bit stressed due to the heavy workload. Let me call a monk from the bigger monastery so that they feel relieved.” The monk sent a letter to another monastery’s head to send a monk for help.
The head monk of the big monastery read the letter aloud before the congregation of monks. The head monk was a realized sage. He said, “I shall be sending five monks to the monastery.” The crowd shouted and wanted to know the reason to send five monks when only one was needed. But, the selected five monks had to obey the command and hence left for the monastery the next day.
On their way, a monk came running to them and said, “Our head monk is no more. I want if one of you to stay with us and guided us on the path of spirituality.” One of them thought, “This is a rich town. I shall live happily here.” He said, “Well! I shall stay here till all the monks of the monastery realize their inner selves. And, you four should continue the journey.” The other four tried to convince him to obey the command of their Guru but had to leave the stubborn monk in the town.
They continued their journey and got lost in a deep forest. It was very late at night. After wandering for hours, they found a lantern-lit hut. They knocked at the door and a very beautiful little girl opened the door. She said, “Oh! I am scared to stay all alone this night. My parents have gone to a neighboring village. Can you all stay with me this night?” The monks thought, “Well! It is late. We shall rest here and leave the next morning.” The next morning, the girl’s parents didn’t return, but they had to leave. One of the monks said, “I shall stay with this girl till her parents return, then I shall accompany you.” The remaining three are left.
On their journey, they passed through a kingdom. Meanwhile, the king rode his horse along their path. He said to one of the monks, who was very attractive, “I have only a daughter. I want to arrange a marriage for her to a handsome person like you. If you marry my daughter, half of my kingdom shall be yours.” The monk thought for a while and then agreed to marry the princess. The two monks gave a horrified look and said, “You renounced the materialistic world, and now you want to marry. Come with us.” The monk was stubborn and thus stayed there. The remaining two monks said to each other, “Now! We shall not deviate from our path.”
On their journey ahead, they found a person with mystic powers. He was in search of a person who could learn to use the mystic powers and, they could rule the world. The person inquired about the monks and acted as if he was needy. One of the monks said, “I shall stay with you and help you.” The other monk said, “You are deviating from your path.” The monk said, “No! It is important to help the needy at this moment.” In reality, he became greedy for name and fame, which he could earn through mystic powers.
The last monk reached the monastery and narrated the course of events to the head monk of the monastery. The head monk smiled and said, “You are the one who shall realize your Inner Self.” The monk worked hard in the monastery and often experienced turbulent thoughts about the course of life of his colleague monks, who chose different domains of life. But, finally, he realized his inner self and became a Yogi.
हमारा मन क्यों भटकता है ?
एक बार एक बौद्ध मठ में एक प्रधान साधु रहते थे। मठ में सभी भिक्षु बहुत मेहनत करते थे। प्रधान साधु ने सोचा, “मेरे साथी काम के भारी बोझ के कारण थोड़े तनाव में हैं। मुझे बड़े मठ के एक साधु को बुलाना चाहिए ताकि वे राहत महसूस करें।” साधु ने दूसरे मठ के मुखिया को एक भिक्षु को मदद के लिए भेजने के लिए एक पत्र भेजा।
बड़े मठ के प्रधान भिक्षु ने भिक्षुओं की सभा के सामने पत्र को जोर से पढ़ा। प्रधान साधु एक सिद्ध संत थे। उन्होंने कहा, “मैं मठ के पांच भिक्षुओं को भेजूंगा।” भीड़ चिल्लाई और जानना चाहा कि पांच भिक्षुओं को भेजने का कारण क्या है जब केवल एक की जरूरत थी। लेकिन, चयनित पांच भिक्षुओं को आज्ञा का पालन करना पड़ा और इसलिए अगले दिन मठ के लिए रवाना हो गए।
उनके रास्ते में एक साधु दौड़ता हुआ उनके पास आया और कहा, “हमारा प्रधान साधु नहीं रहे। मैं चाहता हूं कि आप में से कोई हमारे साथ रहे और हमें आध्यात्मिकता के मार्ग पर ले जाए।” उनमें से एक ने सोचा, “यह एक समृद्ध शहर है। मैं यहाँ खुशी से रहूँगा।” उन्होंने कहा, “ठीक है! मैं यहां तब तक रहूंगा जब तक मठ के सभी भिक्षुओं को अपने भीतर का एहसास नहीं हो जाता। और, आप चारों को यात्रा जारी रखनी चाहिए।” अन्य चार ने उसे अपने गुरु की आज्ञा का पालन करने के लिए मनाने की कोशिश की, लेकिन जिद्दी साधु को शहर में छोड़ना पड़ा।
उन्होंने अपनी यात्रा जारी रखी और एक गहरे जंगल में खो गए। रात बहुत हो चुकी थी। घंटों भटकने के बाद उन्हें लालटेन से जगमगाती एक झोपड़ी मिली। उन्होंने दरवाजा खटखटाया और एक बहुत ही सुंदर छोटी लड़की ने दरवाजा खोला। उसने कहा, “ओह! मुझे इस रात अकेले रहने में डर लग रहा है। मेरे माता-पिता एक पड़ोसी गांव में गए हैं। क्या आप सब इस रात मेरे साथ रह सकते हैं?” भिक्षुओं ने सोचा, “अच्छा! देर हो चुकी है। हम यहाँ विश्राम करेंगे और अगली सुबह निकलेंगे।” अगली सुबह, लड़की के माता-पिता नहीं लौटे, लेकिन उन्हें छोड़ना पड़ा। भिक्षुओं में से एक ने कहा, “मैं इस लड़की के साथ उसके माता-पिता के लौटने तक रहूंगा, फिर मैं तुम्हारे साथ चलूंगा।” बाकी तीन बचे हैं।
अपनी यात्रा पर, वे एक राज्य से गुज़रे। इस बीच, राजा अपने घोड़े पर सवार उनके रस्ते के पास से जा रहा था। उसने एक साधु से कहा, जो बहुत आकर्षक था, “मेरी केवल एक बेटी है। मैं उसके लिए आप जैसे सुंदर व्यक्ति से शादी की व्यवस्था करना चाहता हूं। अगर आप मेरी बेटी से शादी करते हैं, तो मेरा आधा राज्य आपका होगा।” साधु ने कुछ देर सोचा और फिर राजकुमारी से विवाह करने को तैयार हो गया। दोनों भिक्षुओं ने भयभीत दृष्टि से देखा और कहा, “आपने भौतिकवादी दुनिया को त्याग दिया, और अब आप शादी करना चाहते हैं। हमारे साथ आओ।” साधु जिद्दी था और इसलिए वहीं रुक गया। शेष दो भिक्षुओं ने आपस में कहा, “अब! हम अपने मार्ग से विचलित नहीं होंगे।”
आगे की यात्रा में उन्हें एक रहस्यमयी शक्ति वाला व्यक्ति मिला। वह एक ऐसे व्यक्ति की तलाश में था जो रहस्यवादी शक्तियों का उपयोग करना सीख सके और वे दुनिया पर राज कर सकें। उस व्यक्ति ने भिक्षुओं के बारे में पूछताछ की और ऐसा व्यवहार किया जैसे वह जरूरतमंद हो। एक भिक्षु ने कहा, “मैं आपके साथ रहूंगा और आपकी सहायता करूंगा।” दूसरे साधु ने कहा, “तुम अपने मार्ग से भटक रहे हो।” साधु ने कहा, “नहीं! इस समय जरूरतमंदों की मदद करना जरूरी है।” वास्तव में, वह नाम और प्रसिद्धि के लिए लालची हो गया, जिसे वह रहस्यवादी शक्तियों के माध्यम से अर्जित कर सकता था।
अंतिम भिक्षु मठ में पहुंचा और मठ के मुख्य भिक्षु को घटनाओं के बारे में बताया। प्रधान भिक्षु मुस्कुराये और कहा, “आप ही हैं जो अपने आंतरिक स्व को महसूस करेंगे।” भिक्षु ने मठ में कड़ी मेहनत की और अक्सर अपने सहयोगी भिक्षुओं के जीवन के बारे में अशांत विचारों का अनुभव किया, जिन्होंने जीवन के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों को चुना। लेकिन, अंत में, उन्होंने अपने आंतरिक स्व को महसूस किया और एक योगी बन गया।
