A pregnant lioness had to jump across the river. She jumped across the river and gave birth to a cub. After giving birth to the cub, she died. She gave birth in the sheep’s gazing land. The newborn cub was all alone as his mother died after giving birth to him. One of the sheep also gave birth to a lamb recently. She used to feed milk to her lamb and started feeding the cub as well. This is a natural phenomenon. Four-legged animals are very sensible and better than humans.
Gradually, that cub started growing around the sheep. Lambs used to make sounds like “baa baa.” As the cub grew up around sheep, he learned these sounds and started saying “baa baa.” The owner of the sheep gave the cub the same food that he used to eat. The cub used to eat only vegetarian foods. The hunting capability of lions was not yet developed in that cub.
One day a lion came near the river and heard the cub making a sound like “baa baa.” The lion thought this cub should roar instead of making sounds like sheep. The lion called the cub near him, but the cub refused to go. The lion said, “You are a lion; do not behave like a sheep.” The cub didn’t understand what the lion was saying. The lion shared a small piece of meat that he had hunted with the cub. The cub liked the taste of the meat, and he started enjoying it. The lion asked the cub to come with him, but the cub refused. The taste of the blood made the cub follow the lion. The lion took him to the river, where the cub uses it to drink water daily. But today they drank water together from that river. The lion pointed towards the shadow in the water and said, “Look, you are like me and not a sheep.” When the cub saw his shadow, he realized, “Yes, I do look like you and not a sheep.” The lion then roared, and then this cub also roared. Then they both went inside the forest.
The gist of the story is that we follow others like sheep and continue to fall in life. When the guru comes into our lives, he makes us realise that we are not sheep but God himself. Become one with God and be that. Guru has realised that we are God ourselves, which is why he can make us realise the same. Look inside and see that you are the soul, you are that energy.
- Someone said, “Thank you for again recalling why humans are called the jewel of creation. Until we realize this, there is no difference between us and animals. We eat, sleep, get married, give birth, and die. There is a reason why we are born as humans. When we were kids, our parents would tell us not to do this or say that. We obeyed out of respect or fear, but the question still used to bother us as to why it was this way. Now that we’ve asked you the questions, we have begun to understand why we were born as humans. Human life is useless if it is lived without any motive.” Teacher explained, “Whenever I have used this word, I have always said, ‘worse than an animal.’ Because all animals have a motive in life, they complete it and then die. Only humans are the ones who do not fulfill their life’s motives; that is why humans are worse than animals.”
- Someone said, “Today I learned that if we follow what others are doing, then we will not be able to be one with God. Because whatever our company is, we become that.” Teacher explained, “If you have the company of lions, you will become a lion, but two lions never share their territory. It’s difficult to be in the company of lions. Here, the company of the lion means the company of the soul. One who does not fear living alone is a lion. Feel the presence of God, and there will be no fear.”
- Someone said, “God is there, and he is always with us. That is the reason the cub survived even after his mother’s death.” Teacher said, “What beautiful feedback it is.”
- Someone said, “Man is known by the company he keeps. We are entangled with societal norms until we meet a guru. After getting initiation from the guru, we can see the other side of the world, but unless the mirror is shown by the guru, knowing yourself is difficult. Still, after initiation, the path was not clear. In the story, the cub likes the taste of meat, but he is still uncertain until he is taken to the river by the lion and shown to him that we are one Now you have shown us the mirror, that we are all one, so the path is getting easier to follow.” Teacher explained “We have the company of Satsangi, and we will be Sat one day.”
- Someone said, “Today I learned that everybody is the same.” Teacher asks, “Are lions and goats the same?” Someone replied, “They look different, but from the inside, all are the same.” Teacher appreciated the answer.
- Someone said, “Till now, I was living life like a goat and following others. But now you have taken me to the river and shown me the mirror. When we stop, the water will become stable, and we will be able to see the soul within. I still haven’t understood the whole truth, but I have reached the shore.” Teacher said, “You have reached the shore; than you will cross the river as well. You have placed your hand in the hands of God, and he will lead you forward. If you throw stones in the water, it gets disturbed, and you cannot see your shadow in it. We can make that water still by taking Ram Naam. But Ram Naam will be fruitful once we start donating. A person gave some donations, and he felt good about it. Then he looked toward God and thought, “Who am I to give?” And due to this, his mind started getting focused on God. You may feel like the giver at first, but you will gradually become one with God. “The combination of Ram Naam and giving will unite you with God.”

एक गर्भवती शेरनी को नदी के पार कूदना पड़ा। उसने नदी पार कर ली और एक शावक को जन्म दिया। शावक को जन्म देने के बाद उसकी मौत हो गई। उसने भेड़ों की टकटकी भूमि में जन्म दिया। नवजात शावक बिल्कुल अकेला था क्योंकि उसे जन्म देने के बाद उसकी मां की मृत्यु हो गई थी। हाल ही में एक भेड़ ने मेमने को भी जन्म दिया। वह अपने मेमने को दूध पिलाती और शावक को भी दूध पिलाने लगी। यह एक प्राकृतिक घटना है। चार पैरों वाला जानवर इंसानों से बहुत समझदार और बेहतर होता है।
धीरे-धीरे वह शावक भेड़ के चारों ओर बढ़ने लगा। मेमने “बा बा” जैसी आवाज निकालते थे। जैसे ही शावक भेड़ों के चारों ओर बड़ा हुआ, उसने इन ध्वनियों को सीखा और “बा बा” कहने लगा। भेड़ के मालिक ने शावक को वही खाना दिया जो वह खाता था। शावक केवल शाकाहारी भोजन ही करता था। शेर के समान शिकार करने की क्षमता अभी उस शावक में विकसित नहीं हुई थी।
एक दिन एक शेर नदी के पास आया और उसने शावक को “बा बा” जैसी आवाज करते हुए सुना। शेर ने सोचा कि इस शावक को भेड़ की तरह आवाज निकालने के बजाय दहाड़ना चाहिए। शेर ने शावक को अपने पास बुलाया, लेकिन शावक ने जाने से मना कर दिया। शेर ने कहा, “तुम एक शेर हो, भेड़ की तरह व्यवहार मत करो।” शावक को समझ नहीं आया कि शेर क्या कह रहा है। शेर ने मांस का एक छोटा सा टुकड़ा जिसे उसने शिकार किया था, शावक को बांट दिया। शावक को मांस का स्वाद पसंद आया, और वह इसका आनंद लेने लगा। शेर ने शावक को अपने साथ चलने को कहा, लेकिन शावक ने मना कर दिया। खून के स्वाद ने शावक को शेर का पीछा करने पर मजबूर कर दिया। शेर उसे नदी में ले गया, जहाँ शावक प्रतिदिन पानी पीने के लिए उपयोग करता है। परन्तु आज उन्होंने उस नदी का जल एक साथ पिया। शेर ने पानी में छाया की ओर इशारा किया और कहा, “देखो, तुम मेरे जैसे हो, भेड़ नहीं।” जब शावक ने अपनी परछाई देखी, तो उसे एहसास हुआ, “हाँ, मैं तुम्हारे जैसा दिखता हूँ, भेड़ नहीं।” फिर शेर दहाड़ा और फिर ये शावक भी दहाड़ा। फिर वे दोनों जंगल के भीतर चले गए।
कहानी का सार यह है कि हम भेड़ों की तरह दूसरों का अनुसरण करते हैं और जीवन में गिरते रहते हैं। जब गुरु हमारे जीवन में आते हैं तो हमें एहसास कराते हैं कि हम भेड़ नहीं बल्कि स्वयं भगवान हैं। भगवान के साथ एक हो जाओ और वह बनो। गुरु ने यह जान लिया है कि हम स्वयं भगवान हैं, इसलिए वे हमें भी ऐसा ही बोध करा सकते हैं। भीतर देखो और देखो कि तुम आत्मा हो, तुम ही वह ऊर्जा हो।
- किसी ने कहा, “मनुष्य को सृष्टि का रत्न क्यों कहा जाता है, यह फिर से याद दिलाने के लिए धन्यवाद। जब तक हम यह नहीं समझेंगे, तब तक हममें और जानवरों में कोई अंतर नहीं है। हम खाते हैं, सोते हैं, शादी करते हैं, जन्म देते हैं और मर जाते हैं। एक कारण है कि हम मनुष्यों के रूप में क्यों पैदा हुए हैं। जब हम बच्चे थे, तो हमारे माता-पिता हमें ऐसा नहीं करने या ऐसा कहने के लिए कहते थे। हम सम्मान या डर के कारण आज्ञा मानते थे, लेकिन यह सवाल अभी भी हमें परेशान करता था कि ऐसा क्यों है। अब जबकि हमने आपसे प्रश्न पूछ लिए हैं, हम यह समझने लगे हैं कि हम मनुष्य के रूप में क्यों पैदा हुए। मानव जीवन बेकार है अगर इसे बिना किसी मकसद के जिया जाए।” शिक्षक ने समझाया, “जब भी मैंने इस शब्द का इस्तेमाल किया है, मैंने हमेशा कहा है, ‘एक जानवर से भी बदतर।’ क्योंकि सभी जानवरों के जीवन में एक मकसद होता है, वे उसे पूरा करते हैं और फिर मर जाते हैं। केवल मनुष्य ही ऐसे हैं जो अपने जीवन के उद्देश्यों को पूरा नहीं करते; इसलिए इंसान जानवरों से भी बदतर हैं।”
- किसी ने कहा, “आज मैंने सीखा कि दूसरे जो कर रहे हैं अगर हम उसका अनुसरण करेंगे, तो हम ईश्वर के साथ एक नहीं हो पाएंगे। क्योंकि हम जो भी साथ रखते हैं, हम वही बन जाते हैं।” टीचर ने समझाया, “शेरों का संग करोगे तो शेर बन जाओगे, लेकिन दो शेर कभी अपनी जमीन नहीं बांटते। शेरों का साथ दोस्ती रखना मुश्किल है। यहां शेर का संग मतलब आत्मा का साथ है। जो अकेले रहने से नहीं डरता वह शेर है। ईश्वर की उपस्थिति को महसूस करो, और कोई डर नहीं होगा।”
- किसी ने कहा, “ईश्वर है, और वह हमेशा हमारे साथ है। यही कारण है कि वह अपनी माँ की मृत्यु के बाद भी जीवित रहा।” शिक्षक ने कहा, “यह कितनी सुंदर प्रतिक्रिया है।”
- किसी ने कहा, “मनुष्य की पहचान उसके संग से होती है। जब तक हम गुरु से नहीं मिलते तब तक हम सामाजिक मर्यादाओं में उलझे रहते हैं। गुरु से दीक्षा लेने के बाद हम दुनिया का दूसरा पहलू देख सकते हैं, लेकिन जब तक आईना किसी को न दिखाया जाए हमें गुरु द्वारा, अपने आप को जानना मुश्किल है। फिर भी, दीक्षा के बाद, रास्ता स्पष्ट नहीं था। कहानी में, शावक को मांस का स्वाद पसंद है, लेकिन वह तब तक अनिश्चित है जब तक कि उसे शेर द्वारा नदी में नहीं ले जाया जाता और दिखाया जाता कि हम एक हैं। अब आपने हमें आईना दिखाया है, कि हम सब एक हैं, इसलिए रास्ता आसान हो रहा है।” शिक्षक ने समझाया “हमें सत्संगी का साथ मिला है, और हम एक दिन सत होंगे।”

- किसी ने कहा, “अब तक मैं बकरी की तरह जीवन जी रहा था और दूसरों के पीछे-पीछे चल रहा था। लेकिन अब आपने मुझे नदी पर ले जाकर आईना दिखाया है। जब हम रुकेंगे तो पानी स्थिर हो जाएगा और हम अपने भीतर आत्मा को देख पाएंगे। मैं अभी भी पूरी सच्चाई नहीं समझ पाया हूं, लेकिन मैं किनारे पर पहुंच गया हूं। गुरु ने कहा, “तुम किनारे पर पहुँच गए हो, तो नदी को भी पार कर लोगे। तुमने भगवान के हाथ में हाथ रखा है, वह तुम्हें आगे ले जाएगा। यदि तुम पानी में पत्थर फेंकोगे, तो वह विचलित हो जाएगा, और आप उसमें अपनी परछाई नहीं देख सकते। राम नाम लेने से हम उस पानी को स्थिर कर सकते हैं। लेकिन राम नाम तब फलदायी होगा जब हम दान करना शुरू कर देंगे। एक व्यक्ति ने कुछ दान दिया, और उसे अच्छा लगा। फिर उसने परमेश्वर की ओर देखा और सोचा, “मैं किसे देने वाला हूँ?” और इससे उनका मन भगवान में केंद्रित होने लगा। आप पहले देने वाले की तरह महसूस कर सकते हैं, लेकिन आप धीरे-धीरे भगवान के साथ एक हो जाएंगे। राम नाम और देने का मेल आपको भगवान से जोड़ देगा।”
