- Once upon a time, there lived a teacher, who taught the science and practice of sailing across the oceans in grand seas. He was a being, enriched with humility. Whenever he set on the voyage, he bowed and prayed to Lord. The students, who accompanied him on the journey, often ridiculed him, and flaunted about the presence of God. But, the sailor remained silent, and smiled gently in response.
- One day, the sailor commenced the journey, with his students. The sky was convincing, forecasts were positive. Storms and rains were not expected. The sailor prayed to Lord and flipped the galver (steering wheel) and journey began. The children were gossiping about the hypocrisy of their master. They were called by their master, for some lessons. Few minutes passed by, dark clouds growled in the skies. Thunderbolts appeared to crack the ether apart. Soon, the ship was stuck in a grand storm. The children became restless, and panic unfurled. The ship bellowed in hue and cries. When they saw the face of their master, the tranquil glance perplexed them. They went to him and asked him if he was scared. The master remained silent, and was totally immersed in the task of organizing the galver and sails. Cries continued. The students remembered the name of Lord and began chanting it. Within fifteen minutes, the storm subsided and sun peeped through the crevices of the haze. The students took a breath of relief. The sailor dropped his hands off the galver and thanked Lord.
- The extraordinary behavior of their master troubled them. The students went to their teacher and asked him the secret behind the calm look, amidst the clutches of roaring sea. He smiled and replied that he surrendered himself to Lord, before beginning the journey, and had complete faith. But, they enunciated the names, in the scenario of sorrows and troubles, and panic prevailed. Since he had surrendered his body and mind to Lord, he was merely conscious about his duties. Fear didn’t stir him. He was aware that restless and futile mental turmoil would have killed them all.
Moral- So, when we go to sleep, we should ask for forgiveness with an earnest heart, and should forgive and forget the deeds of others as well. And, when we wake up, we should thank God for the beautiful day, and surrender body and mind, for He could work through us. The sails should be loosened, so that the winds of will can drive us. Imbibing the true virtues is very important. Practice of chanting, in the situation of peace and harmony should be inevitable. The time of storms is the time when actions have to be performed, with a faithful heart.
