Who is Narad Ji?

He is the one whose words are never questioned. He has been the Guru of Mother Parvati, Prince Prahlad and many more. He has guided several ages, to the Infinite knowledge. Let us see a discourse which will unveil the preceding lives of Narad Ji.

When a kalp (the time span after which the planet rejuvenates itself) ended, Narad Ji told Ved Vyas Ji, that he was the incarnation of Narayan who had come to the planet to re-establish the spirituality with a firm foundation. {Ved Vyas Ji is the writer of several scriptures, like Veda, Mahabharat and the rest. The fathers of Kauravas and Pandavas are called Vyas Putra.} Vyas Ji said that he was unaware of such potencies within. Narad Ji said that he would tell Vyas Ji about his own identity, then Vyas Ji would soon perceive the essence. Narad Ji said-

I was the son of a maid in my previous birth. She was a very pious mother. She used to work in an ashrama of Go-sevak Brahmins. That place was also the refuge site for several other sages, who wandered from city to city. Her mind was always fixed at the Divine feet of Lord. She always wanted me to understand the science of Lord, and practice it, but she was incapable, because of her job. I lost my father, before I was born. She used to take to the ashram as well, for I could learn to serve the Brahmins. The frolics or the toys never pleased me. Soon, the chaturmaas (the four months of rainy season) arrived. The brahmins often stayed at our ashram in a majority, during the months of heavy rains. Once my mother took me, and asked me serve them all. I used to serve them with a keen heart. The sages were also happy with the service, and liked my presence. When they used to carry out the satsang, they often called me and asked to enjoy the bliss. I really enjoyed the sessions. When the rains ended, they were about to leave the ashram, but before leaving they gave me a powerful mantra, and assured me that the mantra shall keep me happy. I rejoiced.

One day, my mother was returning back home, and a snake poisoned her, and she was left succumbed to nature. Though it was a painful scenario, but I realized that I was freed, as my mother was a maid, not me. I left and entered into a dense strange forest. The howls and growls of the beasts were terrifying, but I used to recite the mantra, and sit happily. Time passed, and one day, I saw the beautiful form of Narayan within me. The form was even more beautiful, than that I imagined while listening the discourses of the sages. I rejoiced, but after that day, I made several efforts to see the form within as well as outside, but in vain. Narayan didn’t give his Divine vision. I was very sad, tears rolled down my eyes incessantly. One day, a voice resonated within me that said that I had to bear several sufferings in the physical body I bore. As I would leave the body, my soul would merge with Narayan. The time of death arrived, and I saw my body lying aloof, and my soul merged with Narayan. Brahma Ji appeared, and said to me that when the next kalp will begin, I shall be molded as an incarnation of Narayan, as Narad. I will roam about in all the realms of existence, and will see Narayan with me, always. Mother Saraswati gave me the Veena, for I could spread the essence of Bhakti, to millions. I shall be able to enjoy the Divine Discourses with Narayan himself.

Listening to the experience, Ved Vyas Ji realized the essence, and soon established spirituality, with firm foundation.

Narad Ji is called the Brahmrishi, who is to be revered always. He is the Guru of all Gurus. But, we ridicule at him, mocking him as a culprit behind all disparities. But, his humbleness is beyond imagination, he has never cursed anyone of us, for such pranks. He is the part and parcel of Narayan.
