Pliable for all the Commands

Once upon a time, there lived a king. He had several children. One of them was a princess named Vairaagyavati. She was the same whatever her name suggested. Vairaagya means dispassion. Though she was blessed with all the materialistic bounties, she never cherished them. She never preferred the riches of the palace, but preferred to live a hermit, amidst the forests or pastures. Once, the king ordered his gardeners to design a beautiful garden, for her. Then, he ordered the masons to construct a hermit, in the heart of the lawn. After that, she lived there. She enjoyed the nature’s treasures, and meandered on the lanes of the pastures and the forests.

One day, she was quite restless at night. She came out of her hermit and sat on a grand boulder. She was gazing at the stars and wishing for she could receive the blessings of a Satguru. She was dull as she thought as she was not ready enough to receive the blessings of a Guru. While she was praying, a robber appeared from the forests. She thought that her prayers were granted, and he was no other than her Guru. She ran towards him and prostrated before him. The robber was puzzled, but he was happy. He proclaimed that he was her Guru. He asked the lady to bring all the valuables which she owned. She readily accepted the words as the commands of the Guru. She took off her ornaments, and collected the riches from her hermit and gave to her ‘Guru‘. Then, the robber asked her to follow him. She did the same. Then, he tied her to a tree and asked her not to get untied from the tree, until he returns and unties her. She accepted the words as the command. He ran away with the sack of ornaments and riches, with a glad heart. She remained there overnight. As the dawn descended, the subjects of the kingdom could not hear the recitations from the hermit. They ran to the king and conveyed the message. The worried monarch asked his army men to search her along the lengths and breadths of the kingdom, and even beyond. One of the groups of the army men found her tied to a tree in the deep forest. They offered respects to the princess and asked her they could untie her. She denied with a bold tone and told that she would not become free until her Guru returns. They tried to pursue her by all means, but she was unstirred with her notion. The king and queen came and tried the same, but in vain. During the discussion, king whispered to the queen that they were ought to find the thief, as he had been a crook. She overheard the words and proclaimed that they shouldn’t harm her Guru, or else she threatened that she would die. The king and queen were left speechless. As the dusk descended, they decided to leave the forest. They prayed to Lord, and asked Him to help. All her kinsmen appeared before her to pursue her, but the efforts were totally futile. The adamant attitude of the lady made the throne of Narayana dwindle.

He asked Narad Ji to see the matter. He descended on the land of mortals and asked her to leave her stubborn outlook. She offered her respects to Narad Ji, but refused to offer disobedience to her Guru. Narad Ji returned, losing at the deal. Narayan and Mother descended as well, they tried as well, but she didn’t listen. Narayan asked Narad Ji to bring the robber, for he could untie Princess Vairaagyavati. Narad Ji found him and grabbed him, presented him before Narayan. He could see the Princess, Narad Ji, Narayan and the rest. Even, the king, queen and other ministers assembled near the tree. But, they could not see Narayan, Mother and Narad Ji. Narayan asked the robber to untie her. He was trembling out of fear. He untied her. As he loosened the rope, she prostrated before him. The robber leaped like a frog, in fear. Narayan asked him to ask her to get up. He did the same. She looked around and replied in a bold though humble tone that though he was not a true Guru, but when he had said to her that he was her Guru, she accepted the words as the ultimate truth. The true obedience to the Guru made her to attain the blessings of Narad Ji, Narayan and Mother, in person. Even, the robber could receive the blessings.

Moral- Satguru is present, but we are not ready to become a Satshishya. If we become so, we can find Him. If we have the blessings of a Satguru, we need to be cent percent obedient to his or her words. If we have the Satguru, but are not obedient, we will remain far behind from true success.
