Congruent Efforts- But within

We need to take a similar tour within. If we use the resources for a trip to a tourist place to the Himalayas dwelling within, we will enjoy the most.

Once there lived a woodcutter in a village. He had a wife and two children. He used to collect wood from the forest every day, and sell them in the market to make both ends meet. But, his wife was contented. She tried to console him and often told him that they were running well in financial issues. Once, she asked him that she wished to go with him to the forest to help him. They went to the forest. She collected little twigs and light branches, and he was busy with the ax. They encountered a saint, meditating under a tree. As the sun reached overhead, they took refuge under a canopy of a tree for enjoying few morsels of lunch packets. She even offered the lunch to the saint with a welcoming heart. Though they had two slices of bread in their lunch packet, her positive attitude granted everything to others. The saint accepted the meal. She offered half of her loaf to the saint and a whole to her husband. Her husband felt that he was stuffed with half of the loaf that day. The saint asked the man not to leave the food. He crumbled the bread into crumbs and offered it to the birds. Though the saint meditated under the tree every day, the healthy company made the man feel the blessings. They collected the wood and sold the logs in the market. They earned the same amount of money, but the man was feeling optimistic. He could enjoy a relaxing sleep that night. The monotonous schedule continued for about a week. One day, the saint asked the couple to explore the woods further. The man was reluctant. But, the lady persuaded him. As they walked about a yard, they saw the trees of sandalwood. The delightful fragrance made the man dance with joy. They collected the wood but in lesser amounts and returned with a happy heart. They sold the wood logs in the market and earned a handsome. Contentment never left the lady. After about a week, the saint asked them to explore further. They moved further and found a deep trench which was a gold mine. The man pranced and leaped with joy. He wished to carry several sacks full of the ore, but his wife asked him to collect a lesser amount, as the element was expensive. The man was unhappy with the notion, but he did the same. They purchased some sweets for their children and returned home. The saint didn’t reply just smiled gently. The man often felt that they should go to the mine again to fetch more ore. But, she didn’t allow him, as there was fear of wild beasts in the jungle. Greed made the man restless. They went to the forest after about a month. They met the saint again. The saint asked them to sit. He asked the man to reflect upon the older days. The lady thanked the saint with a heavy though the merry heart. Then, the saint asked him to think that he was dead. The notion of death made the man tremble in fear. The saint asked him to concentrate on his breathes and go deeper within. The man was aware of the benefits of going deeper within. He went within and saw the beauty of Eternity. As he went further, he saw there were no distinctions, and there was Oneness. As the dusk adorned the sky, the saint shook him and asked him to return to the gross plane. He opened his eyes and said that he knew his Identity.

The story about the woodcutter is the life story of mortals like us. We are guided by the Guru, and if practice the journey in reality, rather than making trips in imagination, we will find the true mine of Eternity.
