Hymn of Glories- Part 2

Nrip ghar janme chaar kumaara
Raghukul deep jagat adhaara..
Charon bhraton ke shubh naama
Bharat Shatrughan Lakshman Rama..

Guru vashishtha ke gurukul jaake
Alpa kaal vidya sab paake
Puran huyi shiksha
Raghuvar puran kaam ki
Hum katha sunate ram sakal gun dham ki
Yeh ramayan hai punya katha shree ram ki
Yeh ramayan hai punya katha shree ram ki
..

  1. The three brothers were named Rama, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughna.
  2. All three of them are the same Eternity, but Rama is the word which closely denotes soul. We call it Aatma raam
  3. Bharat- Bha means light and -rat means to remain immersed in the light. The one who is always immersed in the Eternal light is Bharat. The term Bharatiya immerged from the root Bharat. Another meaning says that the one who work for all the creatures and creation of the planet is Bharat.
  4. The third one is Lakshman. Laksh means aim and mana means the mind. The one whose mind is fixed on the Rama, the soul is Lakshman. He revered Rama not as an elder brother, not as a son of Dashrath but as the Eternity. He was not attached to Rama but loved Him. The love personified is Lakshman, who dedicated his life to serve Rama. Lakshman walked and worked for the soul and spent his every breath for Rama.

We may think that Lakshman Ji had Rama Ji in His physical form before him. We also have Rama in every one surrounding us. When we start working for Rama, we see that there are not distinctions, there is oneness. It is said, Vahi Rama jo Dashrath ka Beta, Vahi Rama ghat ghat mein leta.. It is the same essence who was the son of Dashrath and is omnipresent.
  5. The fourth one was Shatrughna. Shatru- means enemy and -ghna denotes negation. Shatrughna didn’t have any enemies. We may claim that we have no enemies but others may consider us as enemies. Shatrughna Ji never uttered a word, either useful or useless. It is a common saying, Shut your mouth and save your life. His ability to manage his force of blabbering was very efficient. He spoke when he felt that things might get worse. He was totally surrendered to Lord and never thought anything.
  6. The four brothers were growing up. When they were toddlers, they went to Gurukul and acquired highest strata of education. They didn’t learn to earn thus, they learned with the ultimate aim. They were obedient and surrendered and thus they attained the ultimate education as toddlers.

Learning scriptures for the sake of ‘vomiting’ before an audience is futile.
  7. They even learned all arts of self-defense (viz, archery, swordsmanship, martial arts and the rest). They learned it to defend themselves and to protect others, not for rivalry.
  8. Guru Vasishtha showered all the knowledge to his students. And, the students had such a magnificent receiving end that they received everything.
