Pahunche Mithila dhaam
- Guru Vishwamitra reached Mithila with Rama and Lakshmana. As Rama placed his foot on the land of Mithila, King Janak felt something unusual and, he rushed towards the palace gates.
- He couldn’t express his feelings of Oneness. They gazed at each other and merely enjoyed the experience.
- King Janak took Guru Vishwamitra to a unique cottage where he could stay. Rama and Lakshmana insisted that they preferred staying with their Guru. Even Guru Vishwamitra allowed.
- King Janak was ready to shower everything for Rama. But, he remembered his modesty. He left to resume the preparations for the swayamvar.
- Rama massaged Guru’s feet while he was resting. Guru Vishwamitra asked him to lie down. He obeyed and left. Lakshmana massaged his brother’s feet. Rama asked him to lie down. He obeyed and left.
- Lakshmana woke up the earliest. He prepared for Rama’s prayers. Rama woke up. He prepared for Guru Vishwamitra’s prayers. They left to gather flowers. They had to go to the garden of the palace. Even Mother Sita was awake and was performing prayers in the temple in the garden’s premises. Rama saw her and paid respects mentally. Even she prostrated before him mentally.
- The time of swayamvar arrived. The suitable groom had to lift the giant bow, which was a gift to Parshuram Ji from Shiva Ji. Once, King Janak found Janaki lifting the bow with her bare hands, the bow which could not be moved by well-built sturdy men. Minimum twenty-five men were required to clean the bow on daily basis. King Janak wanted a suitable groom for his daughter, the one endowed with physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strengths. All the kings and princes tried their best to lift it but in vain. King Janak was anxious (superficially). He questioned the strengths of the nobles assembled in the court. Guru Vishwamitra asked King Janak to allow Rama and Lakshmana to try the test.
- Rama stood up and paid respects to his Guru and prayed to Shiva Ji to free him from doership. He walked towards the podium and lifted the bow with one hand, and even strung it. As he strung the bow, the bow snapped into two pieces.
- The horrendous roar echoes across the seas, and Parshuram Ji appeared in the court. He was in grave wrath as he was insulted by breaking the bow.
- Lakshmana was annoyed by the response. Guru Vishwamitra, Lakshmana, and Parshuram Ji conversed for a long and finally came to terms.
- Rama prostrated before Parshuram Ji and asked for forgiveness. Parshuram Ji realized his mistake.
- Mother Sita’s eyes reflected the ultimate compassion and love for Rama. King Janak invited all the family members of Rama. Even Lakshmana got married to Urmila, one of Mother Sita’s cousins.
- Bharata and Shatrughna were married to the other two cousins of Mother Sita. The ceremonies ended happily.
