- After Rama and reached the tip of the land, Rameshwaram, they had to plan to reach Lanka. There were several architects and engineers in Rama’s team. They mapped their steps and thought of assembling the materials from the shore to Lanka to build a bridge. All the members of the team began working under the command of the engineers. Rama was observing and supervising the show.
- Before they could begin the project, Rama asked all the people to wait until they asked permission from the ocean for they could carry out their project. Rama prayed to the ocean and asked for his permission. Ocean didn’t reply. Rama asked thrice. In the third go, Lakshamana became angry. He asked Rama if he could split the ocean into two with his arrow. Rama calmed him. He prayed again, and the ocean replied. Ocean said that they could make a bridge across it, but ensuring that rocks and stones didn’t sink in the waters as sinking rocks could devastate the aquatic life.
- All rejoiced and began the work. The engineers placed the rocks in a way that they didn’t sink in the waters and even floated firmly on the surface. Rama was observing the show. He thought of helping in placing the rocks. He lifted a rock and threw them in the water. But, the rock sank in the sea. All laughed seeing the scene. Hanumana Ji came to him and asked him to try that again. Rama repeated the activity, but the rock sank. Rama asked the reason to Hanumana Ji. Hanumana Ji smiled and said that Rama left an entity and thus was sure to be doomed. Hanumana Ji asked him not to renounce anything. Rama asked the reason Hanumana Ji’s floated. Hanumana Ji replied, seeing all his colleagues, said that they were throwing the boulders after taking Rama’s Name. Rama’s name rendered buoyancy. Rama felt relieved.
- All the people worked for hours and finally thought to take a break. They sat at the shore. A squirrel saw Rama building the bridge. The squirrel thought to help Rama. It took tiny pebbles in its tiny mouth and began flinging the stones actively. All observed its breathless agility. One of the members of the army asked Rama about the significance of the little help the squirrel wished to render. Rama smiled and called the squirrel. He took it on his gentle palms and stroked on its back. Rama said that her help would make their bridge sturdy, and they would be able to cross the bridge without any discomfort.
- In the first interaction with the ocean, Rama wished to teach us the humbleness we should practice at every step. We often go to the shores and pollute the aura. But, he prayed to the ocean to guide them for their journey ahead.
- Though the squirrel flung tiny stones which appeared insignificant, it offered timely help. When we play lego blocks, the connectors play the most important role in holding the building. It had faith and wished to serve selflessly. All people have the right to live and serve. No step is big or small. We need to remain timely with the cosmic clock. When we live in the present moment, we can help and serve on time.
