When we move out into the world, we encounter several people who are curious to know about the nationality and religion we practice. We should inculcate a habit to answer boldly. Humanity should be our nationality as well as religion. Religion is the way through which we unite with Lord. But, spirituality is the notion of oneness and entails practice to decipher the puzzle of Self.
We haven’t realized the notion of Oneness, thus we have no right to proclaim any sect. All the paths of variegated sects converge at the same point. Essences of all the sects communicate Oneness.
People prefer finding peace in temples, churches, or masjid. But, we have polluted the holy places with our filthy thoughts. We perform rituals to earn worldly benefits and to dissect others’ lives. Until we find peace in the best living temple of the universe, in the heart, we cannot find harmony in the hustle-bustle of the world. We need to interrogate within.
People often lure us for we puke out the documented religion of the family we belong to. They often ask us to justify the reason to believe in idols. We should try to take an illustration. If we consider the photograph of the questioner’s parents and ask the person to spit on it, the person will not be able to do the same.
Once Bibi Fatima Radiallahu Anha stitched clothes in a dim-lit room. The needle slipped from her fingers. She moved out and began searching the needle under the lamp post. Neighbors asked her the reason behind the distress. She elucidated the matter. People asked her the place where she lost the needle. She replied that she stitched the cloth in the house.
People laughed and ridiculed her response. She replied humbly. She said that Lord dwelled within their hearts and, they searched Lord in temples.
We have emotions attached to the images we perceive. Similarly, we feel closer to God when we see the idol. But, nowadays, we remain stuck to customs and rituals. We should perform the prayers mentally. If we bathe the Shivalinga with cold waters, we should feel that Shiva may shiver. The emotions matter, not the futile actions. Breathes must be chosen as the rosary. We should see the element in all the creations. Idol is merely a representative.
