Story of Faith

Once someone gave Rabiya Basri Ji a beautiful and expensive shawl. For her, a shawl is a clothe to cover oneself; expensive doesn’t matter to her; for others, it is a valuable thing. Rabiya ji never closed her house and always opened the window; whoever wants to visit her can see her anytime, and whoever wants to go can leave anytime. She never possessed anything for herself. Her house was never closed.

There were people after the shawl; they thought of stealing it and selling it so they would get a good amount. One night, while she was sleeping, one of the thieves who went near her tried to grab it. The minute he grabbed the shawl, he became blind; he couldn’t see anything. The thief was upset about what happened to him; after some time, he left the shawl and could see everything. He again tried to grab the shawl, but he couldn’t see anything, and now he couldn’t hear as well. He got annoyed and thought, what was the drama? The third time he tried to hold the shawl again, this time a voice came.

The voice was not Rabiyaji’s; it came from inside the Athma’s. The voice said, I never sleep; you don’t know that. The thief got annoyed as Rabiya Ji is having a deep sleep; she even doesn’t know that he came to steal the shawl. What is happening? thought the thief. He was confused as to who was protecting her. Again, that voice said, ‘I am awake; none can steal anything from my devotee’.

The thief got annoyed and tried to pull the shawl from Rabiya Ji, but now he just fell down; he couldn’t see, hear, or speak. He moved his hands and legs and made a noise, then Rabiya Ji woke up and asked what happened. Then he explained everything to her and said, The one who is protecting you, I can’t see him, only hear his voice. Later, he became a deep divine devotee of Rabiya Ji and became one with God.

When you are completely devoted to God and have complete faith, he protects us in every possible way. If we try to test God, then it is not good; we are not eligible to test God. We have to become eligible for him to notice us. But still, we test God’s love. We can take the test if we have that pure bhakti, love, devotion, and faith. He always passes his test, and we should have that much love and faith. If Rabiya ji can attain that level, why can’t we? We can also attain that. Pass for a few seconds and surrender whatever the problem is. You will get a voice from under you, and help will come from within, from someone, or somehow. It is impossible that you asked and didn’t get the answers, so have faith.

A lady said, “The difference between when I heard the story the first time around and now is that earlier, I felt that the thief was wrong and the voice was of Rabia Basri only; however, this time it got clearer that it was the internal voice of Rabia Basri as God and Rabia Ji are the same. An adolescent said, “What I understood from the story was that the thief went to steal the shawl because somewhere it helped him as he became a disciple of Rabia Basri.” The teacher smiled and added, “Yes, however, his intention was wrong. Even if you are a thief or did something wrong, and you connect with such a guru like Rabia Basri, you can become one with the divine, considering you are willing to do penance for your wrongs.”

A lady said, “When you are in front of a lamp, you will get light. In the same way, whenever you are in the company of a guru, you will get enlightenment.”

Another lady said, “We should have faith like Rabia Basri. She had faith in her God and had surrendered herself; hence, she slept with that faith, not worrying that anything would happen to her.

A kid said, “We don’t have to take any tests or set expectations with God. We just need to surrender to the divine.”

A lady said, “We are always ready to take a test of God since we have so many expectations from the divine. If God meets our expectations, then He is there, but Rabia Basri was herself God.” Teacher added, “Yes, you are also god, the only difference is we have not felt it while Rabia Ji did.”

A kid said, “I understood from today’s story that we need to have faith in God, and whatever comes will be at His will.” The kid’s mother added, “Yes, we have surrendered to God, and He will do what is right.”

A lady said, “We need to have complete faith, and whatever you are, be it big or small, you are not the doer, and God is doing it; just leave it to Him.”

A lady said, “God made it so simple. He showed love and faith. We only complicated it by adding other things as well. We just need to learn to let go of other things and have faith in God.”

Teacher added, “Yes, just surrender. Everything is good, as all are one. Have faith that wherever you are, you will only move forward from there, and I am confident with God that he will make you all achieve it.”

Lady continued, “Earlier I used to revere each God differently, but now that they are all one and I have also started experiencing it, I have started having faith in each God.” Teacher added, “Yes, all are one. I don’t understand why we differentiate based on caste, religion, etc.”

A lady said, “We just need to have faith and continuously increase it.” Teacher asked, “But how will you do it?” The lady replied, ” I try to observe God’s presence with me. I feel that there is a connection, and I keep reminding myself of his presence.” Teacher concluded, “Yes, having that awareness is important. Let me tell you another story: when you are going in a boat, you need to push hard for movement; however, once in between, it sails automatically. Same way, initial awareness takes a bit of time and push from our side, but once it becomes a habit, it gets easier.”

आवाज राबियाजी की नहीं थी; यह अथमा के अंदर से आया था। आवाज ने कहा, मुझे कभी नींद नहीं आती; आपको वह पता नहीं है। चोर नाराज हो गया क्योंकि राबिया जी गहरी नींद ले रही हैं; उसे यह भी नहीं पता कि वह शॉल चुराने आया था। क्या हो रहा है? चोर ने सोचा। वह उलझन में था कि उसकी रक्षा कौन कर रहा था। फिर, उस आवाज़ ने कहा, ‘मैं जाग रहा हूं; कोई भी मेरे भक्त से कुछ नहीं चुरा सकता।

चोर नाराज हो गया और राबिया जी से शॉल खींचने की कोशिश की, लेकिन अब वह बस नीचे गिर गया; वह न देख सकता था, न सुन सकता था और न ही बोल सकता था। उसने अपने हाथ-पैर हिलाकर शोर मचाया तो राबिया जी जाग गई और पूछा कि क्या हुआ। फिर उसने उसे सब कुछ समझाया और कहा, जो तुम्हारी रक्षा कर रहा है, मैं उसे नहीं देख सकता, केवल उसकी आवाज सुन सकता हूं। बाद में, वह राबिया जी के गहरे दिव्य भक्त बन गए और भगवान के साथ एक हो गए।

जब आप पूरी तरह से भगवान के प्रति समर्पित होते हैं और पूर्ण विश्वास रखते हैं, तो वह हर संभव तरीके से हमारी रक्षा करता है। यदि हम परमेश् वर की परीक्षा लेने का प्रयास करते हैं, तो यह अच्छा नहीं है; हम परमेश् वर की परीक्षा लेने के योग्य नहीं हैं। हमें उसके लिए पात्र बनना होगा ताकि वह हमें नोटिस कर सके। फिर भी, हम परमेश्वर के प्रेम की परीक्षा लेते हैं। यदि हमारे पास शुद्ध भक्ति, प्रेम, भक्ति और विश्वास है तो हम परीक्षा ले सकते हैं। वह हमेशा अपनी परीक्षा पास करता है, और हमें इतना प्यार और विश्वास होना चाहिए। अगर राबिया जी उस स्तर को प्राप्त कर सकती हैं, तो हम क्यों नहीं? हम भी इसे प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। कुछ सेकंड के लिए पास करें और जो भी समस्या है उसे आत्मसमर्पण करें। आपको अपने नीचे से एक आवाज मिलेगी, और मदद भीतर से, किसी से, या किसी तरह से आएगी। यह असंभव है कि आपने पूछा और जवाब नहीं मिला, इसलिए विश्वास रखें।

एक महिला ने कहा, “जब आप एक दीपक के सामने होंगे, तो आपको प्रकाश मिलेगा। इसी तरह जब भी आप गुरु की संगति में होंगे तो आपको ज्ञान की प्राप्ति होगी।

एक अन्य महिला ने कहा, “हमें राबिया बसरी की तरह विश्वास रखना चाहिए। उसे अपने भगवान पर विश्वास था और उसने खुद को समर्पित कर दिया था; इसलिए, वह उस विश्वास के साथ सो गई, इस बात की चिंता नहीं थी कि उसके साथ कुछ भी होगा।

एक बच्चे ने कहा, “हमें कोई परीक्षा नहीं देनी है या भगवान से उम्मीदें नहीं रखनी हैं। हमें बस परमात्मा के सामने आत्मसमर्पण करने की जरूरत है।

एक महिला ने कहा, “हम हमेशा भगवान की परीक्षा लेने के लिए तैयार हैं क्योंकि हमें ईश्वर से बहुत सारी उम्मीदें हैं। अगर भगवान हमारी उम्मीदों पर खरा उतरता है, तो वह वहां है, लेकिन राबिया बसरी खुद भगवान थी। टीचर ने आगे कहा, “हां, आप भी भगवान हैं, फर्क सिर्फ इतना है कि राबिया जी के रहते हुए हमने इसे महसूस नहीं किया है।

एक बच्चे ने कहा, “मैं आज की कहानी से समझ गया कि हमें भगवान में विश्वास करने की आवश्यकता है, और जो कुछ भी आएगा वह उसकी इच्छा पर होगा। बच्चे की मां ने कहा, “हां, हमने भगवान के सामने आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया है, और वह वही करेगा जो सही होगा।

एक महिला ने कहा, “हमें पूर्ण विश्वास रखने की आवश्यकता है, और जो कुछ भी आप हैं, चाहे वह बड़ा हो या छोटा, आप कर्ता नहीं हैं, और भगवान इसे कर रहा है; बस इसे उस पर छोड़ दें।

एक महिला ने कहा, “भगवान ने इसे इतना सरल बना दिया। उन्होंने प्यार और विश्वास दिखाया। हमने केवल अन्य चीजों को जोड़कर इसे जटिल बना दिया। हमें बस अन्य चीजों को छोड़ने और भगवान में विश्वास करने के लिए सीखने की जरूरत है।

शिक्षक ने कहा, “हां, बस आत्मसमर्पण करें। सब कुछ अच्छा है, क्योंकि सभी एक हैं। विश्वास रखें कि आप जहां भी हैं, आप केवल वहां से आगे बढ़ेंगे, और मुझे भगवान के साथ विश्वास है कि वह आप सभी को इसे प्राप्त करेगा।

लेडी ने आगे कहा, “पहले मैं प्रत्येक भगवान का अलग-अलग सम्मान करती थी, लेकिन अब जब वे सभी एक हैं और मैंने भी इसका अनुभव करना शुरू कर दिया है, तो मुझे प्रत्येक भगवान में विश्वास होने लगा है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “हाँ, सभी एक हैं। मुझे समझ नहीं आता कि हम जाति, धर्म आदि के आधार पर अंतर क्यों करते हैं।
