Importance of Naam Jap

Saint Gyaneshwar Ji lived in Maharashtra. When people raise and shine towards God, people become jealous; they test the saint in every way and give him hard times. People thought Saint Gyaneshwar ji was a liar, taking God’s name and doing this and that just to show off.

He never bothers about it; he is beyond praise and blame. Lord Narayan brought a situation to prove that by repeating God’s name, one can become God himself. By repeating Ram’s name slowly, you get his qualities in that form,’ Ram ko Jap so Ram hi hoye,” and you become that: Shivoham, Shivoham, Soham, Soham.

The saint Gyaneshwar Ji becomes one with God by repeating his name. One day people came and challenged him, saying, “You always say God is everywhere; he is in everything.” If this cow says whatever you say in Geetha after you, then we will accept that God is in everything and everywhere; otherwise, you are a liar. Gyaneshwar ji went near the cow and said ‘pranam Narayanan,” and the cow started saying the entire Geetha from start to end. For a true devotee, God does anything and everything.

Devotion has to be pure without any doubt; love God for the sake of God; and love has to be so far apart from God that we shouldn’t ask for anything. We should live detached from worldly things and people, then we can get God.

Until we see God in everything, we can’t become that. If you think that you are getting anger, lust, or any negativity from the person with whom you are interacting, see God in the person in front of you as well. Can you show the anger to God you love so much? Can you have a lust for God whom you worship? Then slowly, the lust, anger, and all the negativity vanish.

A lady said, “Whoever comes in front of you, do not let lust come in; see God in them. But sometimes we unintentionally see the outer beauty.” Teacher said, “Even unintentionally, if you see the external beauty, praise God in that situation as well. Think of God as the one who has created everything. Then you repeat God’s name, and automatically you become surrendered, and you come back to the present moment.”

A boy said, “When we are fully devoted, then God helps us with direction.” Teacher said, “It actually happens. In 24 hours, a time comes when you are fully devoted, irrespective of your beliefs. When I was young, my great-grandmother used to say, “Always say good from our mouth, not sure if it becomes true”. That time for sure comes in everyone’s life in 24 hours; we just have to increase the duration of it.” The boy said, “I have a question from the story. A time comes when everyone has to prove their ability to others. In the story, the saint would have refused to prove himself and let people say whatever they were saying about him.” Teacher said, “He was neutral. He was not bothered by what people were saying about him. Through him, God wanted to show the importance of Naam Jap, so he put him on that test and, through him, gave the test. The saint had already surrendered. When “I” is there, then only the thought of proving ourselves comes. When you are surrendered, then God does everything through you for you.”

A lady said, “I should feel God’s presence.” Teacher said, “You just repeat God’s name. It is ok if you do not feel His presence; just repeat God’s name. He will make you feel his presence by repeating his name. If we ourselves start feeling his presence, then what is the value of his name? You just take his name, and he will make you feel his presence.”

A lady said, “Sometimes we get distracted on this journey. The continuity breaks, and it makes me feel uncomfortable. As I again start repeating God’s name, it feels good. My question is, why does this happen?” Teacher said, “If Naam Jap is making you comfortable, then do not stop repeating his name. It happens because you are attached to this materialistic world. As you become attached to things and people around you, it makes you suffer. If you try to see God in everyone and then love them, it makes you detached. Until you are stuck in this materialistic world, you cannot see God.”

A lady said, “I am still stuck in the example about the thief. You are saying we should love the thief as well because God is in him. It was our mistake that we were attached to that money.” Teacher said, “You get according to your karma. In some lives, that person would have taken the thief’s money, so in this life, the thief took the person’s money. The person’s karma was good, so she only lost the money, and her life was saved. Everyone comes into our lives for some reason.” The lady said, “If I take what you said, it means when we meet anyone in day-to-day life, it is due to past karma. We might meet them with good or bad intentions. As we start our journey to become saints and we do not take the garbage that comes with the interactions, then I feel stupid about it.” Teacher said, “You feel stupid when “I” comes. When you understand that you are nobody and only God is there, then you see everyone in the same way. Currently, you have the feeling that Mamta when Samta will come, you will see everyone as the same. You become Buddha and not Budhu.”

नाम जप का महत्व

संत ज्ञानेश्वर जी महाराष्ट्र में रहते थे। जब लोग परमेश्वर की ओर बढ़ते और चमकते हैं, तो लोग ईर्ष्यालु हो जाते हैं; वे संत को हर तरह से परखते हैं और उन्हें कठिन समय देते हैं। लोगों ने सोचा कि संत ज्ञानेश्वर जी झूठे हैं, भगवान का नाम लेकर यह कर रहे हैं और वह सिर्फ दिखावा करने के लिए कर रहे हैं। 

वह इसके बारे में कभी परेशान नहीं होता है; वह प्रशंसा और दोष से परे है। भगवान नारायण ने यह साबित करने के लिए एक स्थिति लाई कि भगवान के नाम को दोहराने से, कोई भी स्वयं भगवान बन सकता है। राम का नाम धीरे-धीरे दोहराने से आप उनके गुणों को उस रूप में पाते हैं, ‘राम को जाप सो राम ही होये’, और आप वही बन जाते हैं: शिवोहम, शिवोहम, सोहम, सोहम। 

संत ज्ञानेश्वर जी अपना नाम दोहराने से भगवान के साथ एक हो जाते हैं। एक दिन लोग आए और उसे चुनौती देते हुए कहा, “तुम हमेशा कहते हो कि परमेश्वर हर जगह है; वह हर चीज में है। यदि यह गाय आपके बाद गीता में जो कुछ भी कहती है, उसे कह देती है, तो हम स्वीकार करेंगे कि भगवान हर चीज में और हर जगह है; अन्यथा, आप झूठे हैं। ज्ञानेश्वर जी गाय के पास गए और ‘प्रणाम नारायणन’ कहा और गाय शुरू से अंत तक पूरी गीता कहने लगी। एक सच्चे भक्त के लिए, भगवान कुछ भी और सब कुछ करते हैं।

भक्ति को बिना किसी संदेह के शुद्ध होना चाहिए; परमेश्वर के लिए परमेश्वर से प्रेम करो; और प्रेम को परमेश्वर से इतना दूर होना चाहिए कि हमें कुछ भी नहीं मांगना चाहिए। हमें सांसारिक चीजों और लोगों से अलग रहना चाहिए, तभी हम ईश्वर को प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। 

जब तक हम हर चीज में भगवान को नहीं देखते, हम वह नहीं बन सकते। यदि आपको लगता है कि जिस व्यक्ति के साथ आप बातचीत कर रहे हैं, उससे आपको क्रोध, वासना या कोई नकारात्मकता मिल रही है, तो सामने वाले व्यक्ति में भी भगवान को देखें। क्या आप परमेश्वर को क्रोध दिखा सकते हैं जिसे आप इतना प्यार करते हैं? क्या आप भगवान के लिए वासना रख सकते हैं जिसकी आप पूजा करते हैं? फिर धीरे-धीरे, वासना, क्रोध और सभी नकारात्मकता गायब हो जाती है।

प्रतिक्रियाएं-

एक स्त्री ने कहा, “जो कोई भी तुम्हारे सामने आए, वासना को अंदर न आने दे; उनमें ईश्वर को देखो। लेकिन कभी-कभी हम अनजाने में बाहरी सुंदरता देखते हैं। शिक्षक ने कहा, “अनजाने में भी, यदि आप बाहरी सुंदरता देखते हैं, तो उस स्थिति में भी भगवान की प्रशंसा करें। भगवान को उस व्यक्ति के रूप में सोचें जिसने सब कुछ बनाया है। तब तुम परमेश्वर के नाम को दोहराते हो, और स्वतः ही तुम समर्पण कर देते हो, और तुम वर्तमान क्षण में वापस आ जाते हो।

एक लड़के ने कहा, “जब हम पूरी तरह से समर्पित होते हैं, तो भगवान हमें दिशा के साथ मदद करते हैं। शिक्षक ने कहा, “यह वास्तव में होता है। 24 घंटों में, एक समय आता है जब आप पूरी तरह से समर्पित होते हैं, चाहे आपकी मान्यताएं कुछ भी हों। जब मैं छोटा था, तो मेरी परदादी कहा करती थीं, “हमेशा हमारे मुंह से अच्छा कहो, यह सुनिश्चित नहीं है कि यह सच हो जाता है”। यह समय निश्चित रूप से 24 घंटे में हर किसी के जीवन में आता है; हमें बस इसकी अवधि बढ़ानी है। लड़के ने कहा, “मेरे पास कहानी से एक सवाल है। एक समय आता है जब हर किसी को दूसरों के सामने अपनी क्षमता साबित करनी होती है। कहानी में, संत ने खुद को साबित करने से इनकार कर दिया होगा और लोगों को उनके बारे में जो कुछ भी कह रहे थे उसे कहने दिया होगा। शिक्षक ने कहा, “वह तटस्थ था। लोग उनके बारे में क्या कह रहे हैं, इससे उन्हें कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता था। उनके माध्यम से, भगवान नाम जप के महत्व को दिखाना चाहते थे, इसलिए उन्होंने उन्हें उस परीक्षा में रखा और, उनके माध्यम से, परीक्षा दी। संत ने पहले ही आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया था। जब “मैं” होता है, तभी खुद को साबित करने का विचार आता है। जब तुम समर्पण कर देते हो, तब परमेश्वर तुम्हारे माध्यम से तुम्हारे लिए सब कुछ करता है।

एक महिला ने कहा, “मुझे भगवान की उपस्थिति महसूस करनी चाहिए। शिक्षक ने कहा, “तुम बस परमेश्वर का नाम दोहराते हो। यह ठीक है यदि आप उसकी उपस्थिति महसूस नहीं करते हैं; बस भगवान का नाम दोहराएं। वह अपना नाम दोहराकर आपको अपनी उपस्थिति का एहसास कराएगा। अगर हम खुद उसकी उपस्थिति महसूस करने लगें, तो उसके नाम का मूल्य क्या है? आप बस उसका नाम लेते हैं, और वह आपको अपनी उपस्थिति का एहसास कराएगा।

एक महिला ने कहा, “कभी-कभी हम इस यात्रा पर विचलित हो जाते हैं। निरंतरता टूट जाती है, और यह मुझे असहज महसूस कराती है। जैसे ही मैं फिर से परमेश्वर का नाम दोहराना शुरू करता हूँ, अच्छा लगता है। मेरा सवाल है कि ऐसा क्यों होता है? शिक्षक ने कहा, “अगर नाम जप आपको सहज बना रहा है, तो उसका नाम दोहराना बंद न करें। ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि आप इस भौतिकवादी दुनिया से जुड़े हुए हैं। जैसे-जैसे आप चीजों और अपने आस-पास के लोगों से जुड़ जाते हैं, यह आपको पीड़ित करता है। यदि आप हर किसी में भगवान को देखने की कोशिश करते हैं और फिर उनसे प्यार करते हैं, तो यह आपको अलग कर देता है। जब तक तुम इस भौतिकवादी संसार में नहीं फंसते, तुम परमेश्वर को नहीं देख सकते।

एक महिला ने कहा, “मैं अभी भी चोर के बारे में उदाहरण में फंसी हुई हूं। आप कह रहे हैं कि हमें चोर से भी प्यार करना चाहिए क्योंकि भगवान उसमें है। यह हमारी गलती थी कि हमें उस पैसे से जोड़ा गया। शिक्षक ने कहा, “तुम्हें अपने कर्म के अनुसार मिलता है। कुछ जन्मों में वह व्यक्ति चोर का पैसा ले जाता तो इस जीवन में चोर ने उस व्यक्ति का पैसा ले लिया। व्यक्ति का कर्म अच्छा था, इसलिए उसने केवल पैसे खो दिए, और उसका जीवन बच गया। हर कोई किसी न किसी कारण से हमारे जीवन में आता है। महिला ने कहा, “अगर मैं आपकी कही बात मान लूं, तो इसका मतलब है कि जब हम दिन-प्रतिदिन के जीवन में किसी से मिलते हैं, तो यह पिछले कर्मों के कारण होता है। हम उनसे अच्छे या बुरे इरादों के साथ मिल सकते हैं। जैसे ही हम संत बनने की अपनी यात्रा शुरू करते हैं और बातचीत के साथ आने वाले कचरे को नहीं लेते हैं, तो मुझे इसके बारे में बेवकूफी महसूस होती है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “जब “मैं” आता है तो आप बेवकूफ महसूस करते हैं। जब तुम समझते हो कि तुम कोई नहीं हो और केवल परमेश्वर ही वहाँ है, तो तुम सभी को उसी तरह देखते हो। वर्तमान में आपको ऐसा लग रहा है कि ममता जब समता आएगी तो आप सबको एक ही रूप में देखेंगी। तुम बुद्ध बनते हो, बुद्धू नहीं।
