Gadadhar, Mathur Babu, and Hridaya return to Dakshineshwar from Kashi. Gadadhar feels immense pangs of separation from Mother Kali. He cannot experience the presence 24*7. Mathur Babu promised messenger sent by Gadadhar’s mother to send Baba (Gadadhar) to Kamarpukur so, he sends Gadadhar with Hridaya, with all resources packed in his carriage.
Gadadhar’s mother sees him and loves him abundantly. Gadadhar feels a bit relieved experiencing his mother’s touch. Even the mother feels different and experiences unusual energy. She asks Hridaya about Gadadhar’s well-being. Hridaya says, “He lives in the mandir of Dakshineshwar and is insane for Mother Kali. People consider him mad and thus spread rumors.” The mother discusses with Gadadhar’s elder brother and concludes, “We should arrange a marriage for Gadadhar. Once he is married, he shall eventually mingle with the material world.” Gadadhar rejoices, listening about his marriage. He is not excited about marriage, as a worldly person does. But, he knows that Mother Kali shall come to him in the form of his consort. Gadadhar says, “Mother, there is a village a few miles away from our place named Jairama Baati. There lives a family of Mukharjees. There is a five-year-old girl named Sharda Mani. You take the proposal.”
His mother and his elder brother leave for Jairama Baati and find the family of Mukharjees. They talk to the family and, they fix the marriage date. Sharda Mani is happy as well. Finally, Gadadhar and Sharda Mani are married. Sharda Mani returns to Jairama Baati and shall go to her consort’s place once she grows up. Gadadhar returns to Dakshineshwar with more intense vigor to unite with Mother Kali.
He cries for days and nights incessantly. On the sandy banks of Ganga, Gadadhar rubs his cheeks against the hot sand and prays to Mother, “Mother! Don’t let even a speck of lust rise within me.” Blood stains him all around and, he abrases his cheeks deeply. One day, Mother gives her vision and says, “You are lust free. No lust shall rise in you.”
Mathur Babu and Hridaya watch all the events but cannot do anything to help Gadadhar. After all his penances, Baba drains out. His tummy remains upset most of the time, he cannot take a bolus in his mouth, and can’t even swallow it. Mathur Babu cannot see Gadadhar’s condition. He calls allopathic and homeopathic doctors to examine Baba. They cannot diagnose anything. Things dwindle and progress with time.
One day, Gadadhar is sitting under a tree in Panchvati on the bank of Ganga. Suddenly, he sees a magnificent form of a middle-aged Brahmani floating over the surface of Ganga waters.
Moral: Gadadhar’s mother made him marry, according to the divine Leela. Lord wishes to teach us the ways to live a life of a Brahmachari in the householder’s life. Gadadhar practiced deep penance to teach us to practice virtues in our daily lives. He is a Brahma Guru who guided millions. If we take the smallest step out of the million hard steps Baba took, we shall be redeemed.
Lust (Kaam) cannot be extracted from our existence by our efforts. We should let Mother work and free us from all chains (Maa ko kaam karne dena chahiye.)
