Focus on a point

After a person realizes his true identity, he does need to announce in the town center to exhibit his qualities. People feel attracted to the blossomed flower and assemble in a manifold. Similar things happened with Kabir Das Ji after he realized the greatest notion.

Let’s see an incidence.

Kabir Das Ji is sitting under a tree, lost in divine contemplation. People assemble near him in millions and appear loaded with the list of wishes they wish to access through Kabir Das Ji.

Kabir Das Ji says, “O people! I do not have anything. I am a poor man, without a speck to give you. Pursue anyone else.” People continue asking him to grant their wishes. People who have faith in his name also get their wishes fulfilled in that way. Things continue happening.

One day, Kabir Das Ji to Lord, “O Lord, please take this existence into Thy abode. These people trouble a lot with their meager wishes.” From within, “O Kabir! Be on the land of mortals. There shall be a handful of people who are in the quest of the Self and, you shall guide them in their journey.” Kabir Das Ji bows down and says, “Thy will be done. Use this tool of Thee at Thy service.”

Kabir Das Ji continues working as a weaver in the marketplace and remains fixed on the Self. People assemble near him when he is at home. He says, “Take whatever you wish.” People return with bags filled with granted wishes but with the pile of doom waiting for them. (Wishing creates trouble. We should let the Self play with the flute, that is, the body and mind, according to its will. When we wish, we bring doom as we do not know the consequences of the disguised-doom-shaped wish.)

A handful of people approach him and say, “How can we fix our attention on Lord?” Kabir Das Ji feels delighted seeing the curiosity. He gives an illustration, “You might have seen women carrying several pots, one over the other, over their heads, patting the baby as well as taking to their friends enjoying the frolic, all at the same time. They know the degree to which they should move their head to balance the pots. They focus that even a drop of water does not spill out. Similarly, we have to do all the tasks according to the will of the Lord, fixing the attention on Thee.”

A few of the people do not get the gist. Kabir Das Ji gives another example, “In the marketplace, near my stall, a lady dehusks the husked paddy in a large mortar and pestle, moves the other lot into the mortar with another hand, pats the baby, and even bargains with the customers. But she never lets her other arm hurt by the pestle. Similarly, we need to practice focusing our attention on the self, living in the world. It is the best though a hard step. But, practice makes everything possible. People prefer playing cards or gossiping in their past-time. But, you have the curiosity to peep within. Move on.”
