We all know the story about how Ganesh Ji was made by Parvati Mata from her ubtan, and Parvati Mata asked him to guard the door. When Shiv Ji came back from samadhi to meet Maa Parvati, Ganesh Ji stopped him from going inside. Shiv Ji then beheaded Ganesh Ji using his trident. If you notice, only his head was cut, but his body was still alive. We all know the new head was fixed to his body.
What is the spiritual importance of this event? Ganesh Ji had a lot of power as he was made by Maa Shakti herself, but he was lacking in wisdom. He stopped Shiv Ji from going inside, which means he stopped Shiv and Shakti’s union. The union of the self with the divinity.
The body of Ganesh Ji was the same, but the head was changed. What does this signify for us? It signifies that the body is the same; just change your thought process. Change your mind, then Shiva and Shakti will become one, and you will become God himself. This is the spiritual meaning of that event.
Ganesh Ji is the one who is worshipped first because he has both wisdom and energy. He has made the journey from zero to becoming an unlimited self. He used to believe he was powerful when his mother told him not to let anyone in, so he stopped Shiv Ji, and then his “I” was destroyed, and he became God himself.
At the time of Sita Mata’s swayamvar, Ram Ji was about to lift the Dhanush. Sita Mata prayed to Ganesh Ji to make the Dhanush light. Ganesh Ji started to smile and asked Sita Mata, “I am so heavy; how can I make this weightless?” Sita Mata said, “However heavy you are, your carrier is a small mouse.” You are so heavy, yet the mouse you sit on is still alive. This means you can be very heavy, but the mouse never feels your weight. What is the spiritual meaning of this?
When you put the weight of everything on God, you become light, happy, and relaxed. Why have you put all of your weight on your head? Why not put it on Ganesh Ji’s feet and be peaceful? Have faith that he is with you and doing everything through you.
“Change your thought and surrender yourself at the divine feet and be free,” is the spiritual meaning of these events.

पार्वती माता ने अपने उबटन से गणेश जी को कैसे बनाया था, इसकी कहानी हम सभी जानते हैं और पार्वती माता ने उन्हें द्वार पर पहरा देने के लिए कहा। शिव जी जब मां पार्वती से मिलने समाधि से वापस आए तो गणेश जी ने उन्हें अंदर जाने से रोक दिया। तब शिव जी ने अपने त्रिशूल से गणेश जी का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया। अगर आप गौर करें तो सिर्फ उनका सिर काटा गया था, लेकिन उनका शरीर अभी भी जीवित था। हम सभी जानते हैं कि नया सिर उनके शरीर से जुड़ा हुआ था।
इस घटना का आध्यात्मिक महत्व क्या है? गणेश जी में बहुत शक्ति थी क्योंकि उन्हें स्वयं माँ शक्ति ने बनाया था, लेकिन उनमें बुद्धि की कमी थी। उन्होंने शिव जी को अंदर जाने से रोक दिया, जिसका अर्थ है कि उन्होंने शिव और शक्ति के मिलन को रोक दिया। परमात्मा के साथ स्वयं का मिलन।
गणेश जी का शरीर वही था, लेकिन सिर बदल गया था। यह हमारे लिए क्या दर्शाता है? यह दर्शाता है कि शरीर एक ही है; बस अपनी विचार प्रक्रिया को बदलो। अपने मन को बदलो, तो शिव और शक्ति एक हो जाएंगे, और तुम स्वयं भगवान बन जाओगे। यह उस घटना का आध्यात्मिक अर्थ है।
गणेश जी की सबसे पहले पूजा की जाती है क्योंकि उनके पास ज्ञान और ऊर्जा दोनों हैं। उन्होंने शून्य से बेहद के स्वयं बनने तक का सफर तय किया है। जब उसकी माँ ने उसे किसी को अंदर न आने देने के लिए कहा तो वह मानता था कि वह शक्तिशाली है, इसलिए उसने शिव जी को रोक दिया, और फिर उसका “मैं” नष्ट हो गया, और वह स्वयं भगवान बन गया।
सीता माता के स्वयंवर के समय राम जी धनुष को उठाने वाले थे। सीता माता ने गणेश जी से धनुष की ज्योति बनाने की प्रार्थना की। गणेश जी मुस्कुराने लगे और सीता माता से पूछा, “मैं इतना भारी हूँ, मैं इसे भारहीन कैसे कर सकता हूँ?” सीता माता ने कहा, “आप कितने भी भारी क्यों न हों, आपका वाहक एक छोटा चूहा है।” तुम इतने भारी हो, फिर भी जिस चूहे पर तुम बैठे हो, वह अभी भी जीवित है। इसका मतलब है कि आप बहुत भारी हो सकते हैं, लेकिन चूहे को आपका वजन कभी महसूस नहीं होता। इसका आध्यात्मिक अर्थ क्या है?
जब आप सब कुछ का भार भगवान पर डाल देते हैं, तो आप हल्के, खुश और तनावमुक्त हो जाते हैं। आपने अपना सारा भार अपने सिर पर क्यों रखा है? क्यों न इसे गणेश जी के चरणों में रखकर शांत हो जाएं? विश्वास रखें कि वह आपके साथ है और आपके द्वारा सब कुछ कर रहा है।
“अपने विचारों को बदलो और अपने आप को दिव्य चरणों में समर्पित करो और मुक्त हो जाओ,” इन घटनाओं का आध्यात्मिक अर्थ है।
