A fakir was sitting under a tree in the early dawn in Brahma Muhurta. King Sikandar Lodhi passed by the place and saw a dead body of a beautiful young boy floating in Ganga. He said, “Oh! He is such a beautiful boy. He could do wonders if he was alive.” The fakir listened to these words and said, “Let’s go to Kabir Das Ji. He can help.” King Sikandar did the same and said to Kabir Das Ji, “Baba! He is such a beautiful boy. He can do wonders if alive.” Kabir Das Ji never used the powers. But, that day, he felt something and said promptly, “O son, wake up. Your father Kabir is calling you.” The young boy became alive, swam across the waters, and prostrated before Kabir Das Ji. King was perplexed and said, “Kamal hai (it is amazing).” Then, Kabir Das Ji named his first son, Kamal.
The boy grew up as an intense ascetic. At a young age, he could not wear his undergarments properly. His father often asked him to dress up properly. One day, Kabir Das Ji told him strictly. From that day, he overcame the chains of Kamini, the lust.
The boy and Kabir Das Ji never accepted any presents from anyone. One day, Kamal went in a pooja. People offered him some presents, but he denied them as his father never accepted anything. Someone slipped a diamond into a fold of Kamal’s turban. He could not see the trick. Kamal returned home, unfolded his turban, and found the diamond. Kabir Das Ji scolded him intensely. Kamal threw the diamond along with the turban and overcame the chains of Kanchan, the gold. He pledged never to touch gold again.
