We will commence with the second term of Hanuman Chalisa. As we proceed towards the term Guru, let us introspect ourselves. If we are rich with a righteous soch and shauch, then the succeeding write-up will descend unto us. Soch means the thoughts, and shauch means purity, both physical and mental.

  • Now-a-days, the term Guru is a grand misnomer, prevalent these days. All the people are designated as Guru.

  • People often say that Dattatreya Ji also had numerous Gurus, from the nature. They feel that it is appropriate to consider a person as their Guru.

  • Until and unless, we realize the potency of Guru, we will be drifted along the misleading winds. Mother, father and the rest are considered as Guru.

  • Mother is revered after Allah, more than the father. Teachers, Professors give us knowledge, and we become vidwaan (educated). Friends and kins teach us about life.

  • If Mother has realized the Self, and makes us realize as well, then She is our Guru. But, if not, then she can’t be the One. We will remain deluded, if consider our parents as the Guru. It is said that service to mother and mother-in-law gives the bounties of heaven. But, heaven is a suffering as well. We will remain in the riddle and mazes of the illusionary world.

  • In the entire epic of Mahabharat, Sri Krishna was the only Guru. All the shikshakgan of Arjun were called Dronaacharya, Kripaacharya and the rest.

  • Guru is the One, who has realized the Self, and opens our eyes for the Inner journey. Teachers cannot be called a Guru, it is an act of grave disrespect, to the Guru. Guru is revered more than the God, as He is the One who shows us the way to God. Thus, it is said, “Guru Gobind Dau khade kaake lagu paaye. Balihaari Guru Aapki Gobind Diyo Bataye.”

  • People who consider themselves as the Guru, foster in futile ego, and ruin their lives. Even, their useless disciples are thrown into the girth of hell. We become bhaktiheen (lack the devotion) and shreeheen (devoid of the SOULAR energy).

  • People say that they have Shree. But, they consider Shree, as a mere prefix in their names or the treasuries of kuberdhan (the black money). If we have the true peace of mind, we can be called a Guru. We can claim to sit for several hours in a single posture. But, we cannot claim to keep our thoughts still for even five minutes. The One who become the essence (Oj) of the mind (man), the One who is jitendriya (who has the tenet of Self-control) is a Guru. If we can remain in the state of bliss in all realms and states of life, either as a bonker or a banker, then we can be called a Guru.

  • In today’s era, all are ready to guide and preach others, but no one is ready to practice the preaching. We are ever ready to forward the motivational messages to our acquaintances, but are least bothered for practicing the quotes. Even a thief preaches about the virtues, and at night, throws the virtues in a bin, and becomes ready for a raid.

  • When the mind sets, then the state of masti descends. The state of Divine frolic is masti. The One who fosters in the frolic is the Guru. It is said, “Rahe maal to us haal mein bhi mast hai, rhe behaal to us haal mein bhi mast hai, kabhi ghee ghana, kabhi mutthi bhar chana, kabhi vo bhi mana.” Ego climbs up spontaneously, as a person does not pay heed to us.

  • We cannot find the Guru. Guru finds us, once we open up our receiving end. Guru showers his blessings 24*7, but we lack the vessel to gather and cherish it.

  • The entire world is filled with motivational quotes and phrases. But, the One who practices and realizes the Self, is the Satguru. Even, the so-called motivational speakers dwell in depression and anxiety. The grand mockery…

  • When we ‘find’ a Guru, and fall in some troubles, we begin the recitation of hanumaan chalisa. Bhoot pishaach nikat nhi aavey.. this becomes our favorite verse. But, it is said, the one who is named, appears before us. We actually call the monsters, rather than getting rid of our monstrous thoughts.

  • Guru is within us, the mind becomes the Guru. BUT, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE MIND CAN MAKE US REALIZE THE SELF, ON ITS OWN. A TRUE GURU IS NEEDED TO PROJECT THE MIND TOWARDS THE PATH. THEN, MIND CAN BE THE GURU.

  • The words of the Guru should mean everything to us, not a lot to us. We need to mend the vessel, to receive the blessings. Blessings are showered all the time.

  • Such were the Guru, Hanumaan Ji, the one who has abolished his ego. He is the One who is revered in the entire description of Hanumaan Chalisa. If we do not misuse the term, we shall be free.
