This is a story of a conversation between Hanuman Ji, the most faithful devotees of Lord Rama, and a demigod, Shani Dev. He is considered a bad omen if found in horoscopic analysis. Let us see whether faith wins or a silly omen.
Hanuman Ji (immersed in divine contemplation): Ram! Ram! Ram! (Suddenly, a form appears before Him) O Thou art Shani Dev, descendent of Suryavamsa. Respects to Thee.
Shani Dev (arrogantly): Thou art of Pawan Putra Hanuman! Respects to Thee.
Hanuman Ji (humbly): O illustrious one! How can I help you?
Shani Dev (in a grave voice): O Pawan Putra! I have come to warn you about a grave omen, hovering in your destiny. Kaala, my Lord, Governor has assigned me the task of ruining the flourishing fortunes of the mortals.
Hanuman Ji (smiling): O Shani Dev, Thou strengths are incomparable. But, there is no voidness within me. Lord Ram dwells within all my cells. My mind is always immersed in Divine remembrance. Thou can’t venture into a compact devotee of Lord.
Shani Dev (in anger): O Maruti Nandan! Thou art challenging my abilities. Even the celestial Gods cannot escape My wrath.
Hanuman Ji (smiling): Thou art a stubborn one. You are not believing in me. It is fine. Your presence is welcomed. If Thou find a void inside, Thy manifestation shall be granted.
Shani Dev: Thou art of stimulating my rage. I am not a silly demigod. If I venture within, I live in the lower parts of the body and make the person an insane wanderer. For the next two and half years, I dwell in the prey’s brain and make him schizophrenic. Then, the torso shall be my camp. The gross body and mind are left dilapidated.
Hanuman Ji (smiling): I shall be pleased to do your hospitality.
Shani Dev (in a growling voice): Your happiness shall perish. Misfortunes shall rise. Anxiety and convulsions shall prevail. You will succumb to grave calamities. You will survive as if like bonkers. You will die impoverished of everything. (Shani Dev climbs over Hanuman Ji, and hovers over the head.)
Hanuman Ji (in meditation): Jay Shri Ram! Jay Shri Ram! Jay Shri Ram!
( He is smiled, elongated His tail, tilted his head towards the top of the hill. He gathered a huge boulder and placed it over His own head.)
Shani Dev (in pain): Hey………… what are you up to? What do you want?
Hanuman Ji: O Shaneeshwar! My scalp was itchy. Thus, this thought popped into my mind.
Shani Dev (in grave pain): You can use oil and ointments for curing it. Why are you squeezing me inside?
Hanuman Ji: O Dev! This is my way of tackling my itchy scalp. Thou art an eternal demigod, Thou can bear this fragment of gross earth.
(Another rock lifted from the apex of the hill, and placed over the head.)
Shani Dev: (………Scream………) You are squeezing the life out of me. My joints are twisted contralaterally. The ligaments are sprained. Please don’t do this.
Hanuman Ji: Thy proclamation asserted Thou shall live inside my body for seven and half years. Till now, seven and half seconds have not passed by.
( Third rock on way to be placed upon )
Shani Dev (in terrible pain): O Pawan Putra! Kindly forgive me. I cannot tolerate it anymore. Please let me go.
Hanuman Ji: Thou art free to leave this Abode. You ventured inside this Form. How can I pull you out?
Shani Dev: Oh Lord! I can’t do it. Dwelling within you is impossible. Thou have to pull me out. My abilities are insufficient to free me. I give my words to Thee. I shall never bother Thee again.
Hanuman Ji (in a deep tone): Thou shall not be able to trouble the devotees of Almighty. The Mind dwelling in His name cannot be disrupted by the fear of death itself. Thou art free now.
Shani Dev ( in a trembling voice): O Ram Bhakta! I can’t free myself.
Hanuman Ji: Jay Shri Ram! Jay Shri Ram!
Shani Dev (relieved): O Ramadoota! I shall remember the words forever. I shall remain indebted to you. Kindly forgive me. ( He starts returning, then suddenly turn around, and asks) O, Lord! Can I receive some sesame oil for massaging my twisted body?
Hanuman Ji (in a deep tone): O Dev! Thou can’t receive it from me. But, from today onwards, Thy devotees shall offer sesame oil to please Thee. But, remember the notion. I am the Guru of all the sincere devotees. If they are troubled, you will fall in grave trouble.
O devotees! Did you understand the reality of horoscopy? Faith drifts our boats to the safest shore. Let me narrate you a story. A man came to me for receiving some assets. I didn’t have anything except devotion and delusion. I asked his choice. He asked me to differentiate the notions. I replied ” Through Bhakti, Almighty shall work through you and,for you. Through maya (delusion), you will work for your own self and Almighty shall watch.” The man was very smart like you all. He chose delusion and soon perished into nothingness.
