Hymn of Glories- Part 1

Hum katha sunate ram sakal gundham ki
Hum katha sunate ram sakal gundham ki
Yeh ramayan hai punya katha shree ram ki

Jambu dweepe, Bharat khande, aryavarte
Bharat varshe ek nagari hai
Vikyat ayodhya naam ki
Yahin janma bhoomi hai
Param pujya shree ram ki..
Hum katha sunate ram sakal gun dham ki..
Yeh ramayan hai punya katha shree ram ki..
Yeh ramayan hai punya katha shree ram ki

Raghukul ke raja dharmatma
Chakravarti dashrath punyatma
Santati hetu yagya karvaya
Dharm yagya ka shubh phal paya

Nrip ghar janme chaar kumaara
Raghukul deep jagat adhaara..
Charon bhraton ke shubh naama
Bharat Shatrughan Lakshman Rama..

  1. This is a hymn on Ramayana, a grand epic on life of Lord Rama.
  2. Before Rama Ji was born, Rishi Valmiki wrote Ramayana. This means that our deeds in our past lives decide the frits we reap today. Rishi Valmiki was a pure being whose karmas made Him see the past as well as the future. But, the essence of Rama is free from the chains of action and reaction. Our soul is already free. The mind suffers, and forces the soul to participate in the vicious cycle of births and rebirths. Sanatan Dharma belives in this philosophy. This is an eternal fruits.
  3. We are born with sanchit and praarabdha karmas and access the same. Then, we die for accessing the remaining fruits in other births. But, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are free from all kinds of debts. They take incarnations to redeem the mortals and make us true humans. We got human birth to go beyond the chains of good and bad.
  4. Rama is still in the mortal world. All the incarnations who have appeared on the planet, who are present and shall appear are Eternal. Names might be differenet, but the Essence is same. They are not bound by chains of caste and religion.
  5. Dashrath was the father of four brothers. Dash means ten, and rath means chariot. He conquered his ten senses, viz, eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin, hands, legs and ability of speech. He even conquered the heaven.
  6. One day, he saw his greying hair. He thought that he should have his successors to carry forward the Suryavamsa. But, he was a true Brahmachaari, an intense celibate. He went to Guru Vasishtha. Guru Vasishtha told him that he was waiting for that moment when Dashrath Ji would surrender to Lord and receive the showers of divine grace. Guru Vasishtha organised a yajna and asked Dashrath Ji to surrender at the Divine feet of Lord.

As the yajna ended, a bowl of rice pudding rose out from the fire. Guru Vasishtha asked Dashrath Ji to serve the pudding to his queens, who would bear the sons. Even the queens accepted the prasaad with immense devotion and faith. Queen Kaushalya was a Shathroopa and Dashrath Ji was Manu in previous birth, who wished to bear Narayan as their children.

After nine months, the three queens, Kaushalya, Kaikayi, and Sumitra bore sons. They were named Rama, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna.
  7. The incarnation of Dashrath taught the mortals to stay detached from every asset and being of the planet and even in the parloka (celestial worlds). If our heart becomes free from conflicts, it becomes Ayodhya, Awadh, Rama is born within.
