Hymn of Glories- Part 22

  1. Hanumana Ji stood before Mother Sita in Ashoka Vatika. He asked Mother for some food as he was tremendously hungry. Mother Sita pointed towards the senescent fruits which had fallen from the trees. Hanumana Ji accepted the words as they were and began gulping the fruits. Soon, he began shaking and uprooting the trees so that the fruits fell on the ground. Moreover, he intended to gather the attention of the guards for he could meet Ravana.
  2. He had a rigorous fight with the guards, and even one of the Ravana’s sons died in turmoil. Ravana became aware of the unrest and ordered his personals to capture the monkey menace. Hanumana Ji surrendered and loosened himself for guards could tie him.
  3. Soon, he presented himself in the court. Ravana asked him about his identity. Hanumana Ji answered humbly and said that he was the messenger of Rama. Ravana began abusing him with all kinds of words, but Hanumana Ji stood silent.
  4. Hanumana Ji conveyed the message, but Ravana was arrogant to pay heed to his words. Though he was aware that Hanumana Ji was his Guru, Shiva but, ego blinded him. He ordered his guards to kill him. Hanumana Ji prayed to Mother as her blessings of immortality appeared futile.
  5. Suddenly, Vibhishana appeared in the court and said to Ravana that it was not righteous to kill the messenger. Ravana accepted his words. Soon, Hanumana Ji began brushing his tail. Ravana felt that the menace liked his tail. He asked his subjects to collect cloth, wrap his tail, drench it in oil, and light it. Hanumana Ji grew his tail several kilometers long. All the dwellers of Lanka contributed cloth and oil according to command. Only Vibhishana and his acquaintances, Trijata and her acquaintances, and Mother Sita didn’t contribute to the ritual. They lit the tail ablaze. But, the fire didn’t sustain in the tail, but it engulfed the entire country. Hanumana Ji loosened his ropes and left for Bharat.
  6. Ravana ordered the clouds to extinguish the fire but, the wind didn’t support it and, the fire grew manifolds. Thus, People say that Ravana’s anger burned Lanka, not Hanumana Ji. The words of the Guru appear futile to the minds clouded by ego.
