Hymn of Glories- Part 27

  1. Angad returned from Ravana’s palace. Vibhishana did everything to persuade Ravana. Vibhishana discussed the treatise of peace which could spread peace and harmony in the kingdom for the generations ahead. He said that warfare would destroy the integrity of the province, and he could lose the war, feeling ashamed of the meager strengths. Ravana said that Vibhishana always spoke on Rama’s part. He questioned Vibhishana of the reason to inscribe Rama’s name at his doorstep. Vibhishana replied that Ra- stood for Ravana and -ma stood for MandodariRavana’s better half. Vibhishana always believed that the one who was the son of Dashratha was also evident in all the particles of the cosmos.
  2. Vibhishana continued sharing the ways to avoid warfare with Ravana. Ravana felt annoyed. He kicked Vibhishana at his back and asked him to leave the palace and go to Rama. Vibhishana paid respects to his elder brother and left.
  3. He was not aware whether he would be welcomed by the monkey army or not as he could appear as an enemy spy or an intruder. Rama’s guards asked him about the purpose behind the visit. He bowed before Rama and said he only wished for a place at Rama’s divine feet as a slave. Rama smiled, lifted Vibhishana, and embraced him. Rama blessed him that he would be the king of Lanka. The people who listened to the blessing were left amazed. Rama blessed Vibhishana before Ravana’s death. Hanumana Ji asked Rama the option for Vibhishana to become a ruler if Ravana accepted the words. Rama replied that Ravana could be the king of Lanka and Vibhishana would be the king of Ayodhya. Hanumana Ji smiled.
  4. All sat down calmy as the sun radiated its last ray before hiding behind the horizon. They prayed to the Almighty. Rama said they would ask Ravana for the last time on the battlefield, and if he continued his track, they would fight.
  5. Vibhishana didn’t renounce his brother, but Ravana kicked him out. Vibhishana never left his brother. Vibhishana didn’t leave the palace, clouded by ego. Vibhishana felt that he would not be able to fight on behalf of the unrighteous party, and thus he left. Rama was open for Vibhishana and Ravana but, faith united Vibhishana and Rama. Vibhishana accepted the words of his Guru, Hanumana Ji, and finally met Rama.
  6. Rama was so humble to give off his kingdom to Vibhishana. He never felt that he was a royal noble but a noble saint, detached from everything.
