- After Meghnatha lost his life, Ravana appeared on the field with all his powers. Rama had to face him. The terrifying war began and extended for two days. Rama‘s efforts appeared futile, and the Lankan army showed magnanimous powers. Rama saw Mother fighting on Ravana’s behalf.
- On the third day, Rama felt restless as he saw Mother fighting for the unrighteous party. When the war ceased in the dusk, Jambvana consoled Rama saying that that was not his day. Rama explained that he could not win the war as Mother fought against him. Jambvana asked Rama to perform prayers to please Mother. Rama chose nine days for the mental prayers.
- Rama collected hundred-and-eight lotuses. He gathered a stiff posture and offered prayers mentally. The prayers proceeded for nine days and nights without a second of halt. As Rama was in the physical form, he had to ‘purify’ the nine doors of his body to teach the world. Rama interacted with Mother Ahilya and, several experiences happened. Thus, he had to perform deep penances.
- The prayers occurred smoothly for the initial seven days. On the eighth day, Rama felt Mother’s presence but, Mother pranked and took away the last lotus. Rama felt doomed for a fraction of a second. But, he remembered Mother Kaushlya’s vocative for Rama as Rajiva lochan, the one with lotus-like eyes. Rama thought to offer his eye to Mother. He oriented an arrow towards his eye socket, and suddenly Mother appeared. Mother blessed him, for he attained triumph in the battle.
- The day of Vijayadashmi commenced. Rama continued shooting arrows at Ravana’s replaceable heads. Ravana had the blessing that his heads could regrow even after multiple decapitations. Vibhishana whispered to Rama and indicated that only an arrow shot at Ravana’s umbilicus could kill him. But, Rama, the most virtuous one, refused to break the rules of a warship, which allowed the opponent to shoot or hammer the enemy above the torso.
- Hanumana Ji sought the case. He is Pawan Putra, the son of the God of winds. The winds blew steadily. The wavering thrashes of winds directed the last arrow towards Ravana’s belly button. As the arrow hit Ravana, he uttered Rama as he stood against Rama and thus attained liberation.
- Rama’s Guru was Shiva and, Shiva’s Guru was Rama. Though Hanumana Ji, the incarnation of Shiva, was with Rama, he taught us to lead a life full of penance.
- If we believe that we are neither the body nor the mind, we will feel the soul. Soon, doubts shall perish. Until we have realized the notion, we need to surrender again and again.
- The body is a fort bound by nine doors. Fluttering doors make us cling to the world. We need to surrender to Lord for, He purifies our gateways and cleans us to the minutest trickle.
