A wealthy father instructed his son to write down everything that would make him wealthy. He made a list of 17 items. While checking the list, Father crossed off all 17 items and wrote “peace of mind.” The father explained to his son, “Whatever items are mentioned in the list, once you get those things, you will want more.” You will not get peace of mind by getting anything or everything. As a result, instead of pursuing materialistic goals, pursue peace of mind. Son asked, “How can I get peace of mind?” Father told him about Narmada Maa.
Nar means male, and Mada means woman. The soul within does not have a gender. In the Satpura Mountain Ranges, Shiv Ji did meditation for years, and from his sweat, Maa Narmada came. To know your soul, you have to focus on the one within. When you meditate, you move towards the soul, and when you find the soul within you, you become one with God. You go beyond Nar and Mada. The river Narmada is one of the few rivers that flows east to west; the other river flows north to south. Narmada Maa flows from Amarkantak to the Arabian Sea (Amar means immortal and Kantak Shiv Ji’s Kanth). When you dive within and find your soul, you become immortal.
What is the significance of starting in the east and ending in the west? The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. All the Satpurush are born in the east. You can see Adam, Guru Nanak Ji, Buddha, Jesus Christ, and all others that were born in the east. Hold your values tight, and then wherever you go in the world, you can be one with God. If you do not forget why you were born as a human being, you will do your work for God’s sake without any attachment and will be one with God.
The Narmada River is the only river where people perform parikrama. What is the spiritual significance of this? When you circle your thoughts around the soul within, then you will be one with God. People physically circle around the river Narmada, but we have to go within and circle around our souls. You bathe in the river Ganga to clean up your wrong doing. But Ganga Maa also bathes in the Narmada River to cleanse herself of all paap. Spiritually, it signifies that when you take a dip in the Trivane Sangam within, you become one with God. Maa Narmada signifies the soul here. When you dip into Narmada Maa, you are beyond good and bad deeds. As you come out of Ganga Maa all the bad deeds come back. Only when you take a dip in the Narmada River will you be one with God.
At the banks of Narmada Maa, more Yogis have been produced than at the banks of Ganga Maa. Why is it so? The more you go toward your soul, the more you will be that. Whatever is in the universe is within you. Similarly, the Narmada Maa that exists in the universe exists within you.
Narmada Maa was about to get married to Sonbhadra. She had a maid named Johila. She sent Johila to meet Sonbhadra, and Sonbhadra assumed that Johila was Narmada and wished to marry her. Narmada Maa heard their conversation and turned her back toward them. Sonbhadra got to know the truth, and then the three of them went in different directions. What is the spiritual meaning of this incident? Turn your back on materialistic needs and move toward your soul. Keep your focus on God, and everything will fall into place.
माँ नर्मदा
एक अमीर पिता ने अपने बेटे को निर्देश दिया कि वह सब कुछ लिख दे जो उसे अमीर बना सके। उन्होंने 17 वस्तुओं की एक सूची बनाई। सूची की जाँच करते समय, पिताजी ने सभी 17 वस्तुओं को काट दिया और “मन की शांति” लिखा। पिता ने अपने बेटे को समझाया, “सूची में जिन वस्तुओं का उल्लेख किया गया है, एक बार जब आप उन चीजों को प्राप्त कर लेंगे, तो आप और अधिक चाहेंगे।” कुछ भी या सब कुछ पा लेने से आपको मन की शांति नहीं मिलेगी। परिणामस्वरूप, भौतिकवादी लक्ष्यों का पीछा करने के बजाय, मन की शांति का पीछा करें। बेटे ने पूछा, “मुझे मन की शांति कैसे मिल सकती है?” पिता ने उन्हें नर्मदा मां के बारे में बताया।
नर का अर्थ है पुरुष और मद का अर्थ है स्त्री। भीतर की आत्मा का कोई लिंग नहीं है। सतपुड़ा पर्वत श्रृंखला में शिव जी ने वर्षों तक तपस्या की और उनके पसीने से मां नर्मदा का अवतरण हुआ। अपनी आत्मा को जानने के लिए, आपको अपने भीतर एक पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना होगा। जब आप ध्यान करते हैं, तो आप आत्मा की ओर बढ़ते हैं, और जब आप अपने भीतर आत्मा को पाते हैं, तो आप ईश्वर के साथ एक हो जाते हैं। तुम नर और मद से आगे निकल जाते हो। नर्मदा नदी उन कुछ नदियों में से एक है जो पूर्व से पश्चिम की ओर बहती है; दूसरी नदी उत्तर से दक्षिण की ओर बहती है। नर्मदा माँ अमरकंटक से अरब सागर (अमर का अर्थ है अमर और कंटक शिव जी का कंठ) में बहती है। जब आप भीतर गोता लगाते हैं और अपनी आत्मा को पाते हैं, तो आप अमर हो जाते हैं।
पूर्व में शुरू और पश्चिम में समाप्त होने का क्या महत्व है? सूर्य हमेशा पूर्व में उगता है और पश्चिम में अस्त होता है। सभी सतपुरुष पूर्व में जन्म लेते हैं। आप आदम, गुरु नानक जी, बुद्ध, ईसा मसीह और अन्य सभी को देख सकते हैं जो पूर्व में पैदा हुए थे। अपने मूल्यों को कस कर पकड़ें, और फिर आप दुनिया में कहीं भी जाएं, आप भगवान के साथ एक हो सकते हैं। यदि आप यह नहीं भूलते कि आपने एक मनुष्य के रूप में जन्म क्यों लिया है, तो आप बिना किसी लगाव के ईश्वर के लिए अपना कार्य करेंगे और ईश्वर के साथ एक हो जाएंगे।
नर्मदा नदी ही एकमात्र ऐसी नदी है जहाँ लोग परिक्रमा करते हैं। इसका आध्यात्मिक महत्व क्या है? जब आप अपने विचारों को भीतर की आत्मा के चारों ओर घुमाते हैं, तो आप ईश्वर के साथ एक हो जाते हैं। लोग भौतिक रूप से नर्मदा की परिक्रमा करते हैं, लेकिन हमें भीतर जाकर अपनी आत्मा का चक्कर लगाना पड़ता है। आप अपने गलत कामों को साफ करने के लिए गंगा नदी में स्नान करते हैं। लेकिन गंगा माँ भी खुद को पाप से मुक्त करने के लिए नर्मदा नदी में स्नान करती हैं। आध्यात्मिक रूप से, यह दर्शाता है कि जब आप त्रिवेन संगम में डुबकी लगाते हैं, तो आप भगवान के साथ एक हो जाते हैं। मां नर्मदा यहां आत्मा का प्रतीक हैं। जब आप नर्मदा माँ में डुबकी लगाते हैं, तो आप अच्छे और बुरे कर्मों से परे हो जाते हैं। गंगा मां के बाहर आते ही सारे बिगड़े काम वापस आ जाते हैं। जब आप नर्मदा नदी में डुबकी लगाएंगे तभी आप भगवान के साथ एक होंगे।
नर्मदा माँ के तट पर, गंगा माँ के तट से अधिक योगी पैदा हुए हैं। ऐसा क्यों है? जितना अधिक तुम अपनी आत्मा की ओर जाओगे, उतना ही तुम वह हो जाओगे। ब्रह्मांड में जो कुछ भी है वह आपके भीतर है। इसी तरह ब्रह्मांड में मौजूद नर्मदा मां आपके भीतर मौजूद हैं।
नर्मदा मां का विवाह सोनभद्र से होने वाला था। उसकी जोहिला नाम की एक दासी थी। उसने जोहिला को सोनभद्र से मिलने के लिए भेजा, और सोनभद्र ने मान लिया कि जोहिला नर्मदा थी और उससे शादी करना चाहती थी। नर्मदा माँ ने उनकी बातचीत सुनी और उनकी ओर पीठ कर ली। सोनभद्र को सच्चाई का पता चला और फिर वे तीनों अलग-अलग दिशाओं में चले गए। इस घटना का आध्यात्मिक अर्थ क्या है? भौतिकवादी जरूरतों पर अपनी पीठ फेरें और अपनी आत्मा की ओर बढ़ें। अपना ध्यान ईश्वर पर केंद्रित रखें, और सब कुछ ठीक हो जाएगा।
