Mother has worn various attributes for abolishing the evil. Her forms has bewildered all since ages. But, are we merely supposed to listen the stories of victory of good over evil, as in moral science textbooks? She performed these deeds in Satayuga (Era of truth and knowledge). But, do they hold any paramount position in spiritual upliftment in people of present era?
She slayed numerous demons. Those monsters have their homologues within us, as well. Let’s see few of them.
Mahishāsura– He was a demonic form, being an incarnation of ego. Mā destroyed such an abominable form and brought ‘Peace’. The fragment of ego within us is as stubborn as nothing. Remaining five other passions can be eliminated with ease, but this factor, remains unchanged for ages, irrespective of immense efforts. Only the surrenderance at the Divine feet of Guru, and then, the blessings showered by mothers, bring hails of Knowledge within. Mother destroyed him, thus She is called, Mahishāsura Vahini or Ahamkāra Nāshini.
Dhūmra- Lochana: Etymologically, ‘Dhūmra’ means ‘smoke’ and ‘lochana’ means ‘eyes’. It has a deep meaning. Despite of having the ‘information’ that we are not the body nor the mind, a dense draping of ignorance has mummified us, into ‘surviving corpses’. Surrenderance at Thy divine feet, will unveil us and make us see the beauty of Eternal knowledge. She is the One who can destroy our urge for seeing the worldly things, and will divert our senses to the inner hidden Light.
Shumbha- Nishumbha: The doublet signify the dualism. We ‘impose’ that we are born for going good deeds. Rather, we forget the enormous strength of past deeds, and the tricks through which these deeds trick us into. Even, the pretension of unnecessary religious rituals adds in to our sufferings. The eclipses and the omens are considered evil, but, the devilish mind is considered pure. Such duality sets our destiny ablze in the fire of sufferings. Only Mother can let our mind blossom with the fragrance of Love for Thee, free us from the dilemma of the ‘Two’.
Madhu- Kaitaba: This pair points towards the behavioural tastes. ‘Madhu’ means ‘sweet’ and ‘kaitaba’ means ‘bitter’. The thing which belong to us appear lovely, despite it may spit venom on our face, and, on the other hand, any external botheration, appears as a viscous serpent itself. Words uttered by our friends and those by our parents, impart different strength of impulses at the cochlea of ear. Such indifference is ought to be renounced, at the divine feet of Mother.
Raktabījas- These set of monsters denote a special category. Such demons replicated into many physical forms, simply by, a drop of blood hitting the earth. A homologue is available. These are our desires. If a single is quenched, the pang for the other sets in. Mother devoured each and every droplet of the demonic blood, and demolished them. Once the wishes are washed away, we can achieve a life rich in Transcendental harmony.
Shońita- Jealousy is it’s homologue. This demonic form has a feature of expanding enormously till infinity. Comparison and competition brings our destiny to the threshold of all sufferings. Jealousy is like hopping hyla, which seeps through minutest of the holes in our consciousness. At Mother’s transcendental abode, all evils are devoured.
Chanda- Munda: Lust and anger personified….
We are ought to pray, for unparalleled love for Thee. A yearning heart for eternity, too, loses its longing, and just Bliss remains. Soon, we can turn into the immortal and indestructible creatures, but, surrenderance is foremost….
