Murshid and Murid

Teacher and his disciple… Rabiya Basri was the Guru. A disciple came to her and asked her, “Why is a Murshid, a Guru important?” Rabiya Basri said, “I talk to Allah. A Guru communicates with Allah. You also receive answers, but you are unable to perceive them as you are engrossed in the world. Whenever I talk to Allah, I say, ‘please make friendship with this person as well.’ Allah says, ‘I am already his friend, but he is not ready to receive me as his friend.’ Then, the Guru says, ‘You are the most gracious one. For my sake, receive him as your friend.’ Allah denies and says, ‘If he does something wrong, who will bear the credit? No!’ Guru requests and says, ‘Please receive him. I take the responsibility for his deeds. He will not do wrong. In case he does so, I will explain him. Just receive him.’ Allah agrees, ‘If you are requesting me earnestly, I receive him.’ Allah makes friends with the man. Now, you are forced to love Allah, as Guru is the intermediate between Allah and you. Guru shall ask you not to do wrong, not to tell lies, not to offend others, and not to feel offended by others’ words… See me in every one. Lots of times, we do and many times we don’t. To err is to be human. Guru speaks to Allah daily. Allah says, ‘ I told you that he will not be able to maintain the friendship. See! Now, he is on the wrong path.’ Guru says, ‘You are the knower of everything You knew that he would do wrong, but irrespective of your knowledge, you became his friend. Now, you are ought to carry out the friendship.”

We all believe in Allah. But, the Guru makes you obedient to Allah. There is a great difference between believing in God and being obedient to God. (Allah ko maanana aur Allah ki maanane mein bahut antar hai.) Whatever happens to us, is worthy enough to take us on the path of spiritual progress. When we become free from meager attachments to the world and focus on Allah, we shall be the one. After a certain level, there is no difference between Guru and shishya. Then, we enjoy the blissful light. Guru never makes disciples, but makes the person realize that he is the Guru. 

मुर्शिद और मुरीद- गुरु और उनका शिष्य… राबिया बसरी गुरु थीं। एक शिष्य उनके पास आया और उनसे पूछा, “एक मुर्शिद, एक गुरु क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है?” राबिया बसरी ने कहा, “मैं अल्लाह से बात करती हूँ। एक गुरु अल्लाह से संवाद करता है। आपको भी उत्तर मिलते हैं, लेकिन आप दुनिया में मग्न होने के कारण उन्हें ग्रहण नहीं पाते हैं। जब भी मैं अल्लाह से बात करती हूं, तो मैं कहती हूं, ‘कृपया इस व्यक्ति से भी दोस्ती करें।’ अल्लाह कहते हैं, ‘मैं पहले से ही उसका दोस्त हूं, लेकिन वह मुझे अपना दोस्त मानने को तैयार नहीं है।’ फिर, गुरु कहते हैं, ‘आप सबसे दयालु हैं। मेरे लिए, उसे अपने मित्र के रूप में प्राप्त करें।’ अल्लाह इनकार करते हैं और कहते हैं, ‘अगर वह कुछ गलत करता है, तो इसका श्रेय किसे मिलेगा? नहीं!’ गुरु अनुरोध करते हैं और कहते हैं, ‘कृपया उसे प्राप्त करें। मैं उसके कर्मों की जिम्मेदारी लेता हूं। वह गलत नहीं करेगा। यदि वह ऐसा करता है, तो मैं उसे समझाऊंगा। बस उसे प्राप्त करें।’ अल्लाह सहमत हैं, ‘यदि आप मुझसे ईमानदारी से अनुरोध कर रहे हैं, तो मैं उसे प्राप्त करता हूं।’ अल्लाह आदमी के साथ दोस्ती करता है। अब, आपको अल्लाह से प्यार करने के लिए मजबूर किया जाता है, क्योंकि गुरु अल्लाह और आपके बीच मध्यस्थ है। गुरु आपसे गलत काम न करने, झूठ न बोलने, दूसरों को नाराज न करने और दूसरों के शब्दों से नाराज महसूस न करने के लिए कहेंगे… मुझे हर एक में देखें। बहुत बार, हम करते हैं और कई बार हम नहीं करते। गलती करना इंसान का लक्षण है। गुरु रोज अल्लाह से बात करता है। अल्लाह कहते हैं, ‘मैंने तुमसे कहा था कि वह दोस्ती नहीं निभा पा रहा। देखो! अब वो गलत रास्ते पर है.’ गुरु कहते हैं, “तू तो सब कुछ जानता है, तू जानता था कि वह गलत करेगा, पर तेरे ज्ञान की परवाह किए बिना तू उसका मित्र बन गया। अब तुझे मित्रता निभानी चाहिए।”

हम सब अल्लाह में विश्वास करते हैं। लेकिन, गुरु आपको अल्लाह का आज्ञाकारी बना देता है। परमेश्वर में विश्वास करने और परमेश्वर के प्रति आज्ञाकारी होने में बहुत अंतर है। (अल्लाह को मानना ​​और अल्लाह की मानने में बहुत अंतर है।) हमारे साथ जो कुछ भी होता है, वह हमें आध्यात्मिक प्रगति के पथ पर ले जाने के योग्य है। जब हम दुनिया के लिए मामूली आसक्तियों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं और अल्लाह पर ध्यान केंद्रित करते हैं, तो हम एक हो जाते हैं। एक निश्चित स्तर के बाद गुरु और शिष्य में कोई अंतर नहीं रह जाता। फिर, हम आनंदित प्रकाश का आनंद लेते हैं। गुरु कभी शिष्य नहीं बनाता, बल्कि व्यक्ति को यह बोध कराता है कि वह स्वयं गुरु है।
