Obedience

In a small, beautiful village, there was a gurukul. All the children used to come there to study. The Guru Ji of that Gurukul was very disciplined and punctual. They used to have a fixed daily routine.

Guru Ji seemed very strict on the outside, but from the inside, he was very loving. All the children were scared of Guru Ji.

One day Guru Ji said, “I am going to Kashi. Anyone of you would like to come with me?” Nobody volunteered to go, as they were scared of him. A student named Vishwanath suddenly raised his hand and wished to go to him.

Guru Ji took Vishwanath with him to Kashi. They went inside a cave, and Guru Ji sat down to meditate.

One day he called Vishwanath and said, “I have to clean my karmic account. You have to make sure to look after me. Do it with complete dedication and love.” Vishwanath agreed.

Guru becomes paralyzed. Whenever Vishwanath brought food for him, he threw it away. When he makes him bathe, he shouts at Vishwanath.

Vishwanath cried every day due to Guru Ji’s behavior towards him. He questioned himself, “Why is Guru Ji angry at me? I am doing every task with so much love. Still, he is scolding me.”

Guru Ji was doing all this to make him one with God, which Vishwanath was unaware of. One night while sleeping, he was crying and asking God, “What am I doing wrong, due to which Guru Ji is scolding me so much? Please tell me my mistake.”

God came before him and said, “Guru Ji is doing these to make you realize who you are.” Vishwanath became delighted to listen to this and went to his guru. He bowed down at his Guru Ji’s feet and showed his thankfulness.

Guru came back to his healthy self, and they continued spreading words about God.

A mother said, “To make Vishwanath one with him, God did all these Leelas.” Alif asked, “Will God do the same with us? Are we also going to find God?” She answered, “Sometimes it happens when time is not good in life that we stop believing in God. We blame him for everything. After learning from here, my thoughts have changed. We have started believing that whatever happens is for our best.” Alif said, “You do not have any other option, so you are thankful to God.”

A lady said, “I thought Guru goes through so much to make us one with him. From the kids, he chose Vishwanath.” Alif said, “He didn’t choose the boy who wanted to go.” She said, “The boy had the willpower to know himself and love his Guru. We are also tested for patience and tolerance, and the test happens multiple times. It is not like you passed once so the test will stop. To unlearn what he has learned from childhood takes time. Because of that, we fail to follow our Guru’s order. At the end, Vishwanath understood that the God within me and my Guru are the same.”

A man said, “The story was self-explanatory. The emphasis was on following Guru’s orders without giving them a second thought. We should not think about our comfort or happiness. Whatever Guru Ji is doing is for our betterment. In life, if any challenges are coming, believe that God is doing it to bring you closer to him.”

A lady said, “You always make the statement, ‘God is there; He is doing everything; thank you, God’. Let’s change it today to, ‘Guru Ji is there; he is doing everything; thank you, Guru Ji.’ The story was completely based on this statement. The second keyword of the story is obedience. His obedience to his Guru Ji made God appear in front of him. Once Guru Ji has held our hand, there is no other worry left. We will live in Anand when Guru Ji holds our hand.”

A boy said, “We should obey our Guru, whatever he tells us to do.” Alif asked, “Where did you find the Guru? Whose order do you follow daily? Who came and told you to do this or not to do this?” He said, “You tell us.” Alif said, “How can I tell you? I live so far away from you.” He answered, “I should do what my parents tell me because they are my guru.” Alif said, “The ones older than you, like parents, teachers, and others, follow what they say to you. But first, realize from within that what they are saying to you is for your own good. It is fine if you do not believe that they are right. Still, when you follow it, you realize that they are right. Slowly, when you practice, you will reach a place where you will realize that you can reach God.”

A boy said, “We need to surrender to Bhagwan and do whatever he tells us to do.” Alif asked, “From where will you get Bhagwan and surrender?” He answered, “Bhagwan is within us. We have to feel him.” Alif asked, “Do you feel him?” He said, “Yes.” Alif said, “Ok. Whatever Bhagwan tells you, do it and be in Anand.”

A lady said, “I have learned to do whatever is asked to do, either by crying or happily. I have to follow my Guru Ji’s order, and one day the love will grow for Bhagwan like Vishwanath.” Alif said, “He didn’t love God. Till the last moment, he was complaining. Many people say I could have done it better in the past. I don’t think we could go back in time and rewind anything. Living in the past is of no help. No one can see the future. So, crying for the future is also of no use. Whatever is in this moment is best, and be thankful for it. Ishwar forces us to be thankful to him. Be thankful even out of compulsion.”

Another lady said, “I am following everything that you tell us. But I am unable to feel the connection. Day and night, I keep on trying, but still, it is not happening. I do everything still, but I am not getting it.” Alif said, “It is your wish; that’s why it is not happening. Stop wishing and let what Bhagwan wants to happen. ‘I’ and ‘wish’ are the root causes of the problem. You do your Karam. Do not have any wishes. You do whatever is told to you without any expectation. You give your everything to Bhagwan. Bhagwan gives or not; it is his problem.”

एक छोटे से सुंदर गांव में एक गुरुकुल था। सभी बच्चे वहां पढ़ने आते थे। उस गुरुकुल के गुरु जी बहुत अनुशासित और समय के पाबंद थे। उनकी दिनचर्या तय थी।

गुरु जी बाहर से बहुत सख्त दिखते थे, लेकिन अंदर से वे बहुत प्यारे थे। सभी बच्चे गुरु जी से डरते थे।

एक दिन गुरु जी ने कहा, “मैं काशी जा रहा हूं। तुममें से कोई मेरे साथ चलना चाहेगा?” कोई भी जाने को तैयार नहीं हुआ, क्योंकि वे उनसे डरते थे। विश्वनाथ नाम के एक छात्र ने अचानक हाथ उठाया और उनके पास जाने की इच्छा जताई। गुरु जी विश्वनाथ को अपने साथ काशी ले गए।

वे एक गुफा के अंदर गए और गुरु जी ध्यान करने बैठ गए। एक दिन उन्होंने विश्वनाथ को बुलाया और कहा, “मुझे अपने कर्मों का हिसाब साफ करना है। तुम्हें मेरा ख्याल रखना होगा। पूरी लगन और प्यार से करना।”

विश्वनाथ मान गए। गुरु को लकवा मार गया। जब भी विश्वनाथ उनके लिए खाना लाते, वे उसे फेंक देते। जब वे उन्हें नहलाते, तो वे विश्वनाथ पर चिल्लाते। गुरु जी के व्यवहार के कारण विश्वनाथ हर दिन रोता था। वह खुद से पूछता था, “गुरु जी मुझ पर क्यों नाराज़ हैं? मैं हर काम इतने प्यार से कर रहा हूँ। फिर भी वे मुझे डांट रहे हैं।”

गुरु जी उसे भगवान से एक करने के लिए यह सब कर रहे थे, जिसका विश्वनाथ को पता नहीं था। एक रात सोते समय वह रोते हुए भगवान से पूछ रहा था, “मैं क्या गलती कर रहा हूँ, जिसके कारण गुरु जी मुझे इतना डांट रहे हैं? कृपया मुझे मेरी गलती बताओ।”

भगवान उसके सामने आए और कहा, “गुरु जी तुम्हें एहसास दिलाने के लिए ये सब कर रहे हैं कि तुम कौन हो।” यह सुनकर विश्वनाथ प्रसन्न हो गया और अपने गुरु के पास गया। उसने अपने गुरु जी के चरणों में सिर झुकाया और अपना आभार प्रकट किया। गुरु अपने स्वस्थ रूप में वापस आ गए, और वे भगवान के बारे में बातें फैलाते रहे।

प्रतिक्रियाएँ –

एक माँ ने कहा, “विश्वनाथ को अपने साथ एक करने के लिए भगवान ने ये सारी लीलाएँ कीं।“अलिफ़ ने पूछा, “क्या भगवान हमारे साथ भी ऐसा ही करेंगे? क्या हम भी भगवान को पा लेंगे?” उसने उत्तर दिया, “कभी-कभी ऐसा होता है कि जब जीवन में समय अच्छा नहीं होता है तो हम ईश्वर पर विश्वास करना बंद कर देते हैं। हम हर चीज के लिए उसे दोषी मानते हैं। यहाँ से सीखने के बाद, मेरे विचार बदल गए हैं। हम यह मानने लगे हैं कि जो कुछ भी होता है वह हमारे भले के लिए होता है।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “आपके पास कोई और विकल्प नहीं है, इसलिए आप ईश्वर के आभारी हैं।”

एक महिला ने कहा, “मुझे लगा कि गुरु हमें अपने साथ एक करने के लिए इतना कुछ करते हैं। बच्चों में से उन्होंने विश्वनाथ को चुना।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “उन्होंने उस लड़के को नहीं चुना जो जाना चाहता था।” उसने कहा, “लड़के में खुद को जानने और अपने गुरु से प्यार करने की इच्छाशक्ति थी। हमारे धैर्य और सहनशीलता की भी परीक्षा होती है और यह परीक्षा कई बार होती है। ऐसा नहीं है कि आप एक बार पास हो गए, तो परीक्षा बंद हो जाएगी। बचपन से जो सीखा है उसे भूलने में समय लगता है। इस वजह से हम अपने गुरु के आदेश का पालन करने में विफल हो जाते हैं। अंत में, विश्वनाथ को समझ में आया कि मेरे अंदर का ईश्वर और मेरा गुरु एक ही हैं।”

एक व्यक्ति ने कहा, “कहानी अपने आप में ही स्पष्ट थी। गुरु जी के आदेशों का पालन करने पर जोर दिया गया था। हमें अपने आराम या खुशी के बारे में नहीं सोचना चाहिए। गुरु जी जो कुछ भी कर रहे हैं, वह हमारे भले के लिए है। जीवन में अगर कोई चुनौती आ रही है, तो विश्वास करें कि भगवान आपको अपने करीब लाने के लिए ऐसा कर रहे हैं।”

एक महिला ने कहा, “आप हमेशा कहते हैं, ‘भगवान हैं; वे सब कुछ कर रहे हैं; भगवान का शुक्र है’। आइए आज इसे बदल दें, ‘गुरु जी हैं; वे सब कुछ कर रहे हैं; गुरु जी का शुक्र है।’ कहानी पूरी तरह से इसी कथन पर आधारित थी। कहानी का दूसरा मुख्य शब्द है आज्ञाकारिता। अपने गुरु जी की आज्ञा का पालन करने से भगवान उनके सामने प्रकट हो गए। एक बार गुरु जी ने हमारा हाथ थाम लिया, तो कोई और चिंता नहीं रह जाती। जब गुरु जी हमारा हाथ थाम लेंगे, तो हम आनंद में रहेंगे।”

एक लड़के ने कहा, “हमें अपने गुरु की आज्ञा का पालन करना चाहिए, चाहे वे हमें कुछ भी करने के लिए कहें।” अलिफ़ ने पूछा, “आपको गुरु कहाँ मिले? आप रोज़ किसका आदेश मानते हैं? किसने आकर आपको यह करने या न करने के लिए कहा?” उन्होंने कहा, “आप ही बताइए।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “मैं आपको कैसे बता सकता हूँ? मैं आपसे बहुत दूर रहता हूँ।” उसने उत्तर दिया, “मुझे वही करना चाहिए जो मेरे माता-पिता मुझसे कहते हैं क्योंकि वे मेरे गुरु हैं।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “आपसे बड़े लोग, जैसे माता-पिता, शिक्षक और अन्य लोग, जो आपसे कहते हैं, उसका पालन करते हैं। लेकिन पहले, अपने भीतर से महसूस करें कि वे जो आपसे कह रहे हैं, वह आपके अपने भले के लिए है। अगर आप यह नहीं मानते कि वे सही हैं, तो यह ठीक है। फिर भी, जब आप इसका पालन करते हैं, तो आपको पता चलता है कि वे सही हैं। धीरे-धीरे, जब आप अभ्यास करते हैं, तो आप उस स्थान पर पहुँच जाएँगे जहाँ आपको एहसास होगा कि आप ईश्वर तक पहुँच सकते हैं।”

एक लड़के ने कहा, “हमें भगवान के सामने आत्मसमर्पण करने की ज़रूरत है और जो कुछ भी वे हमें करने के लिए कहते हैं, उसे करने की ज़रूरत है।” अलिफ़ ने पूछा, “आपको भगवान कहाँ से मिलेंगे और समर्पण कहाँ से होगा?” उसने उत्तर दिया, “भगवान हमारे भीतर हैं। हमें उन्हें महसूस करना होगा।” अलिफ़ ने पूछा, “क्या आप उन्हें महसूस करते हैं?” उसने कहा, “हाँ।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “ठीक है। भगवान जो भी आपको कहते हैं, उसे करें और आनंद में रहें।”

एक महिला ने कहा, “मैंने जो भी करने को कहा जाता है, उसे करना सीख लिया है, चाहे रो कर या खुशी से। मुझे अपने गुरु जी के आदेश का पालन करना है, और एक दिन भगवान के प्रति प्रेम विश्वनाथ की तरह बढ़ जाएगा।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “वह भगवान से प्यार नहीं करता था। आखिरी क्षण तक, वह शिकायत करता रहा। कई लोग कहते हैं कि मैं अतीत में इसे बेहतर कर सकता था। मुझे नहीं लगता कि हम समय में वापस जा सकते हैं और कुछ भी वापस कर सकते हैं। अतीत में जीना कोई मदद नहीं करता। कोई भी भविष्य नहीं देख सकता। इसलिए, भविष्य के लिए रोना भी बेकार है। इस समय जो कुछ भी है, वह सबसे अच्छा है और उसके लिए आभारी रहें। ईश्वर हमें उसका आभारी होने के लिए मजबूर करता है। मजबूरी में भी आभारी रहें।

एक और महिला ने कहा, “मैं आपकी हर बात का पालन कर रही हूं। लेकिन मैं संबंध महसूस नहीं कर पा रही हूं। दिन-रात कोशिश करती रहती हूं, लेकिन फिर भी यह नहीं हो रहा है। मैं अभी भी सब कुछ करती हूं, लेकिन मुझे नहीं मिलता है।” अलिफ़ ने कहा, “यह आपकी इच्छा है, इसलिए यह नहीं हो रहा है। इच्छा करना बंद करो और जो भगवान चाहता है उसे होने दो। ‘मैं’ और ‘इच्छा’ समस्या का मूल कारण हैं। आप अपना कर्म करो। कोई इच्छा मत रखो। आप बिना किसी अपेक्षा के जो भी कहा जाता है उसे करो। आप अपना सब कुछ भगवान को दे दो। भगवान दे या न दे, यह उनकी समस्या है।”
