Narendra is restless. He says to Thakur Ji, “Kindly take me to a state where I can experience the inner silence and merely descend to the gross plane, only for taking a morsel or two.” Thakur Ji says, “You are asking a small thing from me. You shall teach millions.” Narendra says, “No, I shall not.” Thakur Ji replies, “Your bones shall also work to teach.”
Thakur Ji‘s time of mahasamadhi is near. He is becoming frail, and throat cancer afflicts his body. Many people doubt him saying, “He is an incarnation, then, why is he suffering?” Thakur Ji’s inner circle of disciples knows the reason, as Thakur Ji is burning the fruits of the deeds of his disciples in his body.
The superficial acquaintances and false disciples leave Thakur Ji. All doctors from all streams, Vaidyas and Hakims, come to see Thakur Ji. Often, the doctors cannot come to Dakshineshwar regularly. Narendra and other disciples decide to take Thakur Ji and Mother Sharda to Calcutta in a rented room. In Calcutta, even the disciples can come to their Guru readily because of the lesser traveling distance.
Thakur Ji often coughs out blood and pus. He collects it in a cup, and his disciples throw it. Rumors are floating in the air that Thakur Ji is suffering from an infectious disease, which spreads by touch. The disciples fear that they shall get the infection. One day, Narendra takes up the filled cup and drinks the blood-mixed pus. The disciples are awe-stuck. Narendra says, “If something is ought to happen, I shall die first.” Nothing happens to him. The other disciples realize that their Guru is purer than purity, and even his secretions are like ambrosia.
Moral: Such was the love and devotion of Narendra for his Guru. But, what is this pure love? The same love that Hanuman Ji had for Rama Ji is pure. It is said in the Hanuman Chalisa, “Sada Raho Raghupati Ke Dasa.” He is a servant at the divine feet of Rama. It suggests obedience and remaining thankful in every breath. Even the term Islam also means, ‘Surrendering to the Divine will.’ This also suggests obedience.
- There was a question, during the discussion, “From the story, we learned that we must not ask anything from Lord. He loves us seventy times a mother’s love, and he knows about our needs. But, Thakur Ji prayed to Mother Kali for Narendra so that he doesn’t get married and become a servant.” Answer- Thakur Ji never asked for himself or worldly progress for others. Thakur Ji‘s prayers to Mother Kali were part of the divine play to show us the intense love of a Guru for his disciple. Even he prayed for Keshav Chandra Sen for he feels better and fixes his mind on the soul.
- As the love rises, things melt away. Once we jump into a burning pyre, we shall burn. We need not make efforts to burn ourselves in the fire. Once we surrender, things appear magical, as it is the true enactment to the divine script.
- We often remember and feel the Satguru, but it is more important that Satguru remembers us.
- There was another question, “Though Narendra experienced Brahman in everything and even saw Mother with his naked eyes but still, he was restless and asked Thakur Ji to take him to the higher state of consciousness.” Answer- Narendra and Thakur Ji never lived for themselves. They were the incarnations who never did anything for themselves. They wished that others should also experience that love.
नरेंद्र बेचैन हैं। वे ठाकुर जी से कहते हैं, “कृपया मुझे ऐसी स्थिति में ले जाएं जहां मैं आंतरिक मौन का अनुभव कर सकूं और केवल स्थूल स्तर पर उतर सकूं, केवल एक या दो निवाला लेने के लिए।” ठाकुर जी कहते हैं, “तुम मुझसे एक छोटी सी चीज़ मांग रहे हो। तुम लाखों को सिखाओगे।” नरेंद्र कहते हैं, “नहीं, मैं नहीं करूंगा।” ठाकुर जी जवाब देते हैं, “तुम्हारी हड्डियाँ भी सिखाने का काम करेंगी।”
ठाकुर जी की महासमाधि का समय निकट है। वे कमजोर होते जा रहे हैं, और गले का कैंसर उनके शरीर को पीड़ित करता है। बहुत से लोग उन पर यह कहते हुए संदेह करते हैं, ” वे एक अवतार हैं, फिर, वे क्यों पीड़ित हैं?” ठाकुर जी के शिष्यों की आंतरिक मंडली इसका कारण जानती है, क्योंकि ठाकुर जी अपने शिष्यों के कर्मों का फल अपने शरीर में जला रहे हैं।
सतही परिचित और झूठे शिष्य ठाकुर जी को छोड़ देते हैं। सभी धाराओं के डॉक्टर, वैद्य व हकीम ठाकुर जी के इलाज़ करने आते हैं। अक्सर डॉक्टर नियमित रूप से दक्षिणेश्वर नहीं आ पाते हैं। नरेंद्र और अन्य शिष्यों ने ठाकुर जी और माता शारदा को किराए के कमरे में कलकत्ता ले जाने का फैसला किया। कलकत्ता में, कम दूरी के कारण शिष्य भी आसानी से अपने गुरु के पास आ सकते हैं।
ठाकुर जी अक्सर खून का बलगम निकालते हैं। वे उसे प्याले में इकट्ठा करते हैं, और उनके शिष्य उसे फेंक देते हैं। अफवाहें हवा में तैर रही हैं कि ठाकुर जी एक संक्रामक रोग से पीड़ित हैं, जो स्पर्श से फैलता है। शिष्यों को डर हैं कि कहीं उन्हें संक्रमण न हो जाए। एक दिन, नरेंद्र भरा हुआ प्याला उठाते हैं और खून में मिला हुआ मवाद पीते हैं। शिष्य विस्मय में हैं। नरेंद्र कहते हैं, “अगर कुछ होना है, तो मैं पहले मरूंगा।” उन्हें कुछ नहीं होता। अन्य शिष्यों को पता चलता हैं कि उनके गुरु पवित्रता से अधिक पवित्र है, और यहां तक कि उनके स्राव भी अमृत की तरह हैं।
शिक्षा: ऐसा था अपने गुरु के लिए नरेंद्र का प्रेम और भक्ति। लेकिन, यह शुद्ध प्रेम क्या है? राम जी के प्रति हनुमान जी का जो प्रेम था, वह पवित्र है। हनुमान चालीसा में कहा गया है, “सदा रहो रघुपति की दासा।” वे राम के दिव्य चरणों में एक सेवक हैं। यह आज्ञाकारिता और हर सांस में आभारी रहने की शिक्षा देता है। यहां तक कि इस्लाम शब्द का भी अर्थ है, ‘ईश्वरीय इच्छा के प्रति समर्पण’। यह भी आज्ञाकारिता का सुझाव देता है।
- चर्चा के दौरान एक सवाल आया, “कहानी से हमने सीखा कि हमें भगवान से कुछ भी नहीं मांगना चाहिए। वे हमें एक माँ के प्यार से सत्तर गुना प्यार करते हैं, और वे हमारी जरूरतों के बारे में जानते हैं। लेकिन, ठाकुर जी ने माँ काली से प्रार्थना की ताकि नरेंद्र शादी न करे और नौकर न बने।” उत्तर- ठाकुर जी ने कभी अपने लिए या दूसरों के लिए सांसारिक उन्नति नहीं मांगी। माँ काली के लिए ठाकुर जी की प्रार्थनाएँ हमें एक शिष्य के लिए एक गुरु के गहन प्रेम को दिखाने के लिए दिव्य नाटक का हिस्सा थीं। यहां तक कि उन्होंने केशव चंद्र सेन के लिए भी प्रार्थना की ताकि वे बेहतर महसूस कर सकें और आत्मा में मन लगा सकें।
- जैसे-जैसे प्यार बढ़ता है, सशय पिघल जाते हैं। एक बार जब हम जलती हुई चिता में कूदेंगे, तो हम जलेंगे। हमें खुद को आग में जलाने के लिए प्रयास करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। एक बार जब हम आत्मसमर्पण कर देते हैं, तो चीजें जादुई दिखाई देती हैं, क्योंकि यह दैवीय लिपि का सच्चा अधिनियमन है।
- हम अक्सर सतगुरु को याद करते हैं और महसूस करते हैं, लेकिन उससे भी ज्यादा जरूरी हैं की सतगुरु हमें याद करते हैं।
- एक और सवाल था, “हालांकि नरेंद्र ने हर चीज में ब्रह्म का अनुभव किया और यहां तक कि अपनी नग्न आंखों से मां को भी देखा, लेकिन फिर भी वे बेचैन थे और ठाकुर जी से उन्हें चेतना की उच्च स्थिति में ले जाने के लिए कहा।” उत्तर- नरेंद्र और ठाकुर जी कभी अपने लिए नहीं जीते। वे ऐसे अवतार थे जिन्होंने कभी अपने लिए कुछ नहीं किया। वे चाहते थे कि दूसरे भी उस प्रेम का अनुभव करें जो उन्होंने बचपन से महसूस किया था।
