We all know about Raja Janaka Ji, the father of Maa Sita. Raja Janak has a guru known as Yajnavalkya. Yajnavalkya was also known as Ashtavakra due to his body shape.
Raja Janaka asked Yajnavalkya Ji, “Will you please initiate me?” “Kindly check with your wife first,” Yajnavalkya JI replied modestly. Maa Sunaina was a very devoted lady of God. Maa Sunaina said, “Yes.” Then Raja Janaka came and replied, “We are ready to get initiated by you.” Ashtavakra said, “First give me Guru Dakshina, then I will initiate you.” Raja Janaka asked, “Why are you asking for Guru Dakshina before initiation?” Ashtavakra Ji replied, “Once you are initiated, you will become one with the divinity.” You will not then give Guru Dakshina.” Raja Janaka said, “Please ask what you want as Guru Dakshina.” Again, Ashtavakra Ji said, “Go and ask your wife whether you are ready to give your life, mind, or money.”
If we are choosing life, then we have to die. Money other than your complete belongings will be taken away. Nothing will be left to you if you give up your mind. You must choose one; otherwise, I would not have come here to initiate you. If you are ready to give Dakshina, then come. Then he went to Maa Sunaina and explained everything that Ashtavakra Ji had asked Dakshina. Maa Sunaina was a very humble and uplifted lady. She said, “Yes, he will initiate us.” Janaka Ji asked, “What should be given as Guru dakshina?” Maa said, “If we give our physical bodies away, then we will be of no use.” “Anybody can give life; it’s not a big deal.” As Ashtavakra Ji is a sanyas, the money is of no use to him. “You are the king and have to look after the kingdom, so we should give you the money.” Then what should we give? She replied, “The one thing that belongs to us is our mind.” “Let’s give our minds to him.” The biggest charity is the charity of your mind.
They went to Ashtavakra Ji and said, “We are ready to give our minds to you.” Ashtavakra Ji, “Ok.” He gave his mind to Ashtavakra Ji and went horseback riding. He was about to sit on a horse, and at that very moment, he went into deep samadhi to become one with God. The biggest charity is the charity of your mind. Your guru only needs you to give your mind to him. The mind is the one that makes us suffer. After initiation, Janaka Ji started living his life like Vaidehi. He used to keep one hand in his wife’s head and the other in the fire, but he never got burned. He has given his mind to God, so his body also belongs to God.
Once Yajnavalkya Ji came back to Raja Janaka’s kingdom, Raja Janaka became extremely happy. He did everything possible for him in the best way possible for his guru. When Yajnavalkya Ji was going back, Raja Janaka felt a little sad about it. As soon as Janaka Ji felt sad, Yajnavalkya Ji gave him a slap and said, “You are a thief.” You gave your mind to me but took it back; that’s why you were happy when I came and sad when I left. Give your mind back to me. And from that point on in Raja Janaka Ji’s life, he never took his mind off his guru.
Because his mind was constantly focused on the Guru, he was ruling the kingdom as Gyani. Gyan says that I am not this body or mind; I am the soul. The people in the kingdom were the same as their king, and they started behaving the same way. They all become Gyani. If everyone became Gyani, the world would not run properly. Mother started crying; there is drought everywhere in the kingdom. As everyone was unaware of their body and mind, nobody was working.
What do Gurus do here? Guru knew their Gyan was complete; now love needed to be filled in their hearts. They are married and need to have a child, but they were Gyan, and they know they are not this body or mind, from where the child will be born.
Ashtavakra Ji, in the form of Shiv Ji, came in front of them. They become extremely happy to see Shiv Ji. Raja Janak asked, “O God, what can I do for you?” A Gyani is standing in front of another Gyani. Shiv Ji said, “You started ploughing the fields and asked our complete kingdom to do the same. There is no rain and everything is dry; you should now work hard.” They had already given their minds to Guru, so they started doing what Shiv Ji asked them to do.
Everyone in the kingdom started ploughing with excitement. When they were ploughing, they saw a beautiful girl coming out of the mother earth. Janak Ji and Maa Sunaina were ploughing the field together when, seeing the baby girl, they stopped. For the first time, that dry knowledge turned into a beautiful, unconditioned love for that baby girl. They picked that baby girl up in their lap. This is how Maa Sita herself came to the planet to look after us.
Janak Ji and Maa Sunaina were filled with love. Maa Sunaina became extremely happy, and all the care was diverted towards the daughter. The daughter herself is Maa Jagdamba, so there was no question of attachment and only a pure flow of love. When in a married life only one is present without any attachment, then Maa Sita will take birth there.

A girl said, “I have learned from today’s story that God is everywhere inside us as well as outside. I have not completely surrendered our mind to God yet, so we should listen to our Guru and try to surrender our mind to God.” Teacher said, “Where will you surrender your mind? When you sit to pray, whichever God’s idol you see, tell him, ‘Outside you are in the form of an idol, inside you are the soul, so please help me focus my mind on you in place of outside things.’ I deserve you, then why are my desires limited? Talk to God with love like this. We deserve the entire God, but our desires make us suffer. Ask God to give you what you deserve, and after getting God, nothing is left to desire.”
Someone said, “The part of the story was about mind and body. This body is temporary; it comes and goes. So, I was thinking, Don’t attach to your body or mind; surrender your mind to God. The second part, where you mentioned Gyan and love, I was just thinking it was a bit difficult to understand. I understood when you just looked from the Gyan perspective that ego will come at some point; that’s why it is essential to have that love element as well attached to you.” The teacher said, “Only knowledge or love is not good. Pure love has everything, but it is very difficult to attain that pure love of Radha Rani. Gradually, with focus and practise, love comes and manifests. Until it is manifested completely, it is selfishness. We think we are working for others, but basically, we are working for our own goodness. Gradually working for others, a time comes when you come to know there is no other; it’s all one, and then that love manifests completely. Till that stage, keep on practising. In the 21st century, no one can go and beg, and no one will give you anything. You have that ego; why should I get it? For the 21st century, you have to sanyasi from within but externally work, but surrender to God, and the work will be done, and whatever is earned will be distributed among all of us. The more you give, the more you receive, and the more you will be filled with love and become happy and content.”
Someone said, “While listening to the story, I had a doubt, but later on, you explained it to someone, and it got cleared. There was doubt that love comes with attachment, then how to get rid of that attachment. Then you explained about merit and desire. Love is what you deserve, and attachment is the desire.” Teacher said, “Desire is the attachment that makes you suffer. Love is pure, and it has nothing to do with any suffering.” He said, “Deserve means it has been given to you and could be taken from you. Similarly, when we give our minds, we do not keep anything to ourselves. Whatever has come will come, and in the same way, it will go away. We just need to have faith and practise it.” Teacher said, “You will be balanced in your life. If something comes or goes, it will not affect you. When we live like this, we do not suffer, but if something comes along and we become attached to it, we suffer. Whenever you catch hold of anything, you have a fear of losing it. Attachment is the reason for your suffering.”
राजा जनक
मां सीता के पिता राजा जनक जी के बारे में तो हम सभी जानते हैं। राजा जनक के एक गुरु हैं जिन्हें याज्ञवल्क्य के नाम से जाना जाता है। याज्ञवल्क्य अपने शरीर के आकार के कारण अष्टावक्र के नाम से भी जाने जाते थे।
राजा जनक ने याज्ञवल्क्य जी से पूछा, “क्या आप कृपया मुझे दीक्षा देंगे? “कृपया पहले अपनी पत्नी से जाँच करें,” याज्ञवल्क्य जी ने विनम्रता से उत्तर दिया। मां सुनैना भगवान की एक बहुत ही समर्पित महिला थीं। माँ सुनैना ने कहा, “हाँ। तब राजा जनक ने आकर उत्तर दिया, “हम आपके द्वारा दीक्षित होने के लिए तैयार हैं। अष्टावक्र ने कहा, “पहले मुझे गुरु दक्षिणा दो, फिर मैं तुम्हें दीक्षा दूंगा। राजा जनक ने पूछा, “आप दीक्षा से पहले गुरु दक्षिणा क्यों मांग रहे हैं? अष्टावक्र जी ने उत्तर दिया, “एक बार दीक्षित हो जाने के बाद, आप दिव्यता के साथ एक हो जाएंगे। तब तुम गुरु दक्षिणा नहीं दोगे। राजा जनक ने कहा, “कृपया पूछें कि आप गुरु दक्षिणा के रूप में क्या चाहते हैं। पुन: अष्टावक्र जी ने कहा कि जाओ और अपनी पत्नी से पूछो कि क्या तुम अपना जीवन, मन या धन देने के लिए तैयार हो।
अगर हम जीवन चुन रहे हैं, तो हमें मरना होगा। आपके पूरे सामान के अलावा अन्य पैसे छीन लिए जाएंगे। यदि आप अपना मन छोड़ देते हैं तो आपके लिए कुछ भी नहीं बचेगा। आपको एक चुनना होगा; अन्यथा, मैं आपको आरंभ करने के लिए यहां नहीं आता। यदि आप दक्षिणा देने के लिए तैयार हैं, तो आइए। तब वे मां सुनैना के पास गए और अष्टावक्र जी ने दक्षिणा से जो कुछ मांगा था, वह सब समझाया। मां सुनैना बहुत ही विनम्र और उत्थानीय महिला थीं। उसने कहा, “हाँ, वह हमें शुरू करेगा। जनक जी ने पूछा गुरु दक्षिणा के रूप में क्या देना चाहिए? माँ ने कहा, “अगर हम अपने भौतिक शरीर को दूर कर देते हैं, तो हम किसी काम के नहीं होंगे। “कोई भी जीवन दे सकता है; यह कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है। चूंकि अष्टावक्र जी संन्यास हैं, इसलिए धन उनके किसी काम का नहीं है। “आप राजा हैं और आपको राज्य की देखभाल करनी है, इसलिए हमें आपको पैसा देना चाहिए। तो फिर हमें क्या देना चाहिए? उसने जवाब दिया, “एक चीज जो हमारी है वह हमारा दिमाग है। “चलो अपना दिमाग उसे दे देते हैं। सबसे बड़ा दान आपके मन का दान है।
वे अष्टावक्र जी के पास गए और बोले, “हम आपको अपना मन देने के लिए तैयार हैं। अष्टावक्र जी, “ठीक है। उन्होंने अपना मन अष्टावक्र जी को दिया और घुड़सवारी करने चले गए। वह घोड़े पर बैठने वाला था, और उसी क्षण, वह भगवान के साथ एक होने के लिए गहरी समाधि में चला गया। सबसे बड़ा दान आपके मन का दान है। आपके गुरु को केवल जरूरत है कि आप अपना मन उन्हें दें। मन वह है जो हमें पीड़ित करता है। दीक्षा के बाद जनक जी वैदेही की तरह अपना जीवन व्यतीत करने लगे। वह एक हाथ अपनी पत्नी के सिर में और दूसरा आग में रखता था, लेकिन वह कभी नहीं जला। उसने अपना मन ईश्वर को दिया है, इसलिए उसका शरीर भी ईश्वर का है।
एक बार याज्ञवल्क्य जी राजा जनक के राज्य में वापस आए, राजा जनक अत्यंत प्रसन्न हो गए। उन्होंने अपने गुरु के लिए सबसे अच्छे तरीके से उनके लिए हर संभव कोशिश की। याज्ञवल्क्य जी जब वापस जा रहे थे तो राजा जनक को इस बात का थोड़ा दुख हुआ। जनक जी को जैसे ही दुख हुआ, याज्ञवल्क्य जी ने उन्हें एक थप्पड़ मारा और कहा, “तुम चोर हो। आपने अपना मन मुझे दे दिया लेकिन इसे वापस ले लिया; यही कारण है कि जब मैं आया तो आप खुश थे और जब मैं चला गया तो दुखी था। अपना मन मुझे वापस दे दो। और उस बिंदु से राजा जनक जी के जीवन में, उन्होंने कभी भी अपने गुरु से अपना मन नहीं हटाया।
क्योंकि उसका मन लगातार गुरु पर केंद्रित रहता था, इसलिए वह ज्ञानी के रूप में राज्य पर शासन कर रहा था। ज्ञान कहता है कि मैं यह शरीर या मन नहीं हूं; मैं आत्मा हूँ। राज्य के लोग अपने राजा के समान थे, और वे उसी तरह से व्यवहार करने लगे। वे सभी ज्ञानी बन जाते हैं। अगर सब ज्ञानी हो गए तो दुनिया ठीक से नहीं चलेगी। माँ रोने लगी; राज्य में हर जगह सूखा है। जैसा कि हर कोई अपने शरीर और मन से अनजान था, कोई भी काम नहीं कर रहा था।
गुरु यहाँ क्या करते हैं? गुरु जानते थे कि उनका ज्ञान पूर्ण है; अब उनके दिलों में प्यार भरने की जरूरत थी। वे विवाहित हैं और उन्हें एक बच्चा पैदा करने की आवश्यकता है, लेकिन वे ज्ञान थे, और वे जानते हैं कि वे यह शरीर या मन नहीं हैं, जहां से बच्चा पैदा होगा।
शिव जी के रूप में अष्टावक्र जी उनके सामने आए। वे शिव जी को देखकर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं। राजा जनक ने पूछा कि हे भगवान, मैं आपके लिए क्या कर सकता हूं? एक ज्ञानी दूसरे ज्ञानी के सामने खड़ा है। शिव जी ने कहा, “आपने खेत जोतना शुरू कर दिया और हमारे पूरे राज्य को भी ऐसा करने के लिए कहा। बारिश नहीं है और सब कुछ सूखा है; अब आपको कड़ी मेहनत करनी चाहिए। वे पहले ही गुरु को अपना मन दे चुके थे, इसलिए उन्होंने वही करना शुरू कर दिया जो शिव जी ने उन्हें करने के लिए कहा था।
राज्य में हर कोई उत्साह से जुताई करने लगा। जब वे जुताई कर रहे थे, तो उन्होंने एक सुंदर लड़की को धरती माँ से निकलते हुए देखा। जनक जी और मां सुनैना एक साथ खेत जोत रहे थे, तभी बच्ची को देखकर रुक गए। पहली बार, वह सूखा ज्ञान उस बच्ची के लिए एक सुंदर, बिना शर्त प्यार में बदल गया। उन्होंने उस बच्ची को गोद में उठा लिया। इस तरह मां सीता स्वयं हमारी देखभाल करने के लिए ग्रह पर आईं।
जनक जी और मां सुनैना प्रेम से भर गए। मां सुनैना बेहद खुश हो गईं, और सारा ध्यान बेटी की ओर मोड़ दिया गया। पुत्री स्वयं माँ जगदम्बा है, इसलिए आसक्ति का प्रश्न नहीं था और केवल प्रेम का शुद्ध प्रवाह था। जब वैवाहिक जीवन में बिना किसी मोह के एक ही मौजूद हो तो मां सीता वहां जन्म लेंगी।
प्रतिक्रियाएं-
एक लड़की ने कहा, “मैंने आज की कहानी से सीखा है कि भगवान हमारे अंदर भी है और बाहर भी। मैंने अभी तक अपने मन को पूरी तरह से भगवान को समर्पित नहीं किया है, इसलिए हमें अपने गुरु की बात सुननी चाहिए और अपने मन को भगवान को समर्पित करने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। शिक्षक ने कहा, “तुम अपना मन कहाँ समर्पित करोगे? जब आप प्रार्थना करने बैठते हैं, तो जिस भी भगवान की मूर्ति को आप देखते हैं, उसे बताएं, ‘बाहर आप एक मूर्ति के रूप में हैं, अंदर आप आत्मा हैं, इसलिए कृपया बाहर की चीजों के स्थान पर मेरे दिमाग को आप पर केंद्रित करने में मेरी मदद करें। मैं तुम्हारे लायक हूं, फिर मेरी इच्छाएं सीमित क्यों हैं? भगवान से इस तरह प्यार से बात करें। हम संपूर्ण ईश्वर के लायक हैं, लेकिन हमारी इच्छाएं हमें पीड़ित करती हैं। भगवान से प्रार्थना करें कि वह आपको वह दे जिसके आप हकदार हैं, और भगवान को पाने के बाद, इच्छा करने के लिए कुछ भी नहीं बचा है।
किसी ने कहा, “कहानी का हिस्सा मन और शरीर के बारे में था। यह शरीर अस्थायी है; यह आता है और चला जाता है। इसलिए, मैं सोच रहा था, अपने शरीर या मन से मत जुड़ो; अपने मन को ईश्वर को समर्पित कर दो। दूसरा भाग, जहां आपने ज्ञान और प्रेम का जिक्र किया, मैं बस यही सोच रहा था कि इसे समझना थोड़ा मुश्किल है। मैं समझ गया जब आपने ज्ञान के दृष्टिकोण से देखा कि अहंकार किसी बिंदु पर आएगा; यही कारण है कि उस प्रेम तत्व के साथ-साथ आपके साथ जुड़ा होना आवश्यक है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “केवल ज्ञान या प्रेम अच्छा नहीं है। शुद्ध प्रेम में सब कुछ होता है, लेकिन राधा रानी के उस शुद्ध प्रेम को प्राप्त करना बहुत मुश्किल है। धीरे-धीरे, ध्यान और अभ्यास के साथ, प्यार आता है और प्रकट होता है। जब तक यह पूरी तरह से प्रकट नहीं हो जाता, तब तक यह स्वार्थ है। हमें लगता है कि हम दूसरों के लिए काम कर रहे हैं, लेकिन मूल रूप से, हम अपनी भलाई के लिए काम कर रहे हैं। धीरे-धीरे दूसरों के लिए काम करते हुए, एक समय आता है जब आपको पता चलता है कि कोई दूसरा नहीं है; यह सब एक है, और फिर वह प्यार पूरी तरह से प्रकट होता है। उस स्तर तक, अभ्यास जारी रखें। 21वीं सदी में, कोई भी जाकर भीख नहीं मांग सकता है, और कोई भी आपको कुछ भी नहीं देगा। आपके पास वह अहंकार है; मुझे यह क्यों मिलना चाहिए? 21वीं सदी के लिए, तुम्हें भीतर से संन्यासी होना है, लेकिन बाहरी रूप से काम करना है, लेकिन परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पण करना है, और काम किया जाएगा, और जो कुछ भी अर्जित किया जाएगा वह हम सभी के बीच वितरित किया जाएगा। जितना अधिक आप देते हैं, उतना ही आप प्राप्त करते हैं, और उतना ही आप प्यार से भर जाएंगे और खुश और संतुष्ट हो जाएंगे।
किसी ने कहा, “कहानी सुनते समय, मुझे संदेह हुआ, लेकिन बाद में, आपने इसे किसी को समझाया, और यह साफ हो गया। संदेह था कि प्रेम आसक्ति के साथ आता है, फिर उस आसक्ति से कैसे छुटकारा पाया जाए। फिर आपने योग्यता और इच्छा के बारे में समझाया। प्यार वह है जिसके आप लायक हैं, और लगाव इच्छा है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “इच्छा वह मोह है जो आपको पीड़ित बनाती है। प्यार शुद्ध है, और इसका किसी भी दुख से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा, “लायक मतलब है कि यह आपको दिया गया है और आपसे लिया जा सकता है। इसी तरह, जब हम अपना दिमाग देते हैं, तो हम कुछ भी अपने पास नहीं रखते हैं। जो कुछ भी आया है वह आएगा, और उसी तरह, यह चला जाएगा। हमें बस विश्वास रखने और इसका अभ्यास करने की जरूरत है। शिक्षक ने कहा, “आप अपने जीवन में संतुलित रहेंगे। अगर कुछ आता है या जाता है, तो यह आपको प्रभावित नहीं करेगा। जब हम इस तरह जीते हैं, तो हमें दुख नहीं होता है, लेकिन अगर कुछ साथ आता है और हम उससे जुड़ जाते हैं, तो हम पीड़ित होते हैं। जब भी आप किसी चीज को पकड़ते हैं, तो आपको उसे खोने का डर होता है। आसक्ति ही तुम्हारी पीड़ा का कारण है।
