Rama takes Mahasamadhi

One day, a saint visited Rama Ji. Rama Ji had ruled for ten-thousand years by that time. The saint said that he wished to talk to Rama Ji in person, in a room where no one should not intrude. He even asked Rama Ji to sentence death to the intruder if anyone didn’t follow the norm.

The saint was no other than the messenger sent by Mother Lakshmi (Mother Sita, as incarnation) to remind Rama Ji that his life in the mortal world was over, and he had to return to Ksheer Sagar (ocean of milk).

Rama Ji deputed Lakshmana Ji as the gatekeeper. As Rama Ji and the saint entered the room, Rishi Durvasa approached the room and asked Lakshmana Ji to allow him to meet Rama Ji. Lakshmana Ji pleaded and asked him not to enter the room. Rishi Durvasa stood stubbornly and forced Lakshmana Ji. He even warned that he would curse the entire kingdom and they could die at that moment. Rishi Durvasa alerted that he would Rama at first sight. Lakshmana Ji was in a fix. He remembered Rama in his heart and surrendered at the Divine feet. Without speaking a word, Lakshmana Ji entered the room.

Rama Ji asked him the reason behind the intrusion. Lakshmana Ji told about Rishi Durvasa. Rama Ji said that Lakshmana Ji would be sentenced to death as he intruded in a private meeting. Lakshmana Ji smiled and accepted the proposal. Then, Rama Ji, melted out of love, asked his brother to leave the city of Ayodhya at that moment and never return. Lakshmana Ji said he would accept the sturdy rule, the norm of death sentence, as that would be an injustice.

Lakshmana Ji walked towards the river Sarayu and took mahasamadhi. As he was the incarnation of Sheshnaag, he reached back to his abode, the Ksheer Sagar. He said to Mother Lakshmi that Rama Ji would return soon.

Soon, Rishi Durvasa entered the room and cursed Rama Ji, conveying about the approaching death. Rama Ji smiled and walked towards river Sarayu. He entered the waters, took the form of Vishnu, and showed his opulent form to all the dwellers of Ayodhya. As Mother Lakshmi and Sheshnaag Ji touched his feet, he re-established himself in Ksheer Sagar.

During the entire course of these events, Hanumana Ji was busy searching for the true mudrika, the precious ring of Rama Ji. Rama Ji was aware that Hanumana Ji would not allow the messenger and even Rishi Durvasa to enter the city of Ayodhya, as he could not live without Rama. So, he knocked his precious ring into a tiny hole and asked Hanumana Ji to bring it.

Hanumana Ji took a tink form and entered the hole. He met the great snake, Vasuki. He asked Vasuki about the ring. Vasuki pointed towards a mountain filled with Rama Ji’s innumerable rings and asked Hanumana Ji to seek the needed ring. Hanumana Ji felt perplexed as all rings appeared identical. As Rama Ji showed his opulent form as Narayana, Hanumana Ji too saw the form in his heart. Hanumana Ji smiled and realized Lord’s Leela (drama). Hanumana Ji left his physical form and merged with the Formless. He was the one blessed with the boon of immortality.

When Sri Krishna appeared in DwaparyugaHanumana Ji appeared and protected the chariot in the field of Kurukshetra and even enjoyed the Satsang, the narration of Gita before the battle.
