God always laughs. He remains blissful. Say, for example, a little boy is about to die. The doctor consoles the boy’s parents saying, “Don’t worry! I shall save him.” God laughs and thinks, “Birth and death are under my control, and the doctor claims to save the boy.” Alas! the boy dies. If someone blames a doctor for letting a patient die, it’s not worth it. Birth and death are not under a doctor’s control.
The second incidence… happens with everyone. When we measure every inch of the land and mark it as our own, while dealing with ancestral property, God laughs. He thinks, “I am everywhere and they are trying to divide me. Everything is mine.” Whenever we become selfish, God laughs.
What is bad in the notion that God laughs at us? It is good if we can make someone laugh. In reality, God laughs at us, though he teaches us that we should laugh with others, not laugh at others. Why does he laugh at us? God laughs at himself, as he is within us. When we realize this, we will always laugh at ourselves. Irrespective of the environment, we will laugh.

दूसरी घटना… सबके साथ होती है। जब हम पैतृक संपत्ति का लेन-देन करते हुए जमीन का एक-एक इंच नापकर उसे अपना बताते हैं तो भगवान हंसते हैं। वह सोचता है, “मैं हर जगह हूं और वे मुझे बांटने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। सब कुछ मेरा है।” जब भी हम स्वार्थी बनते हैं, भगवान हंसते हैं।
इस धारणा में क्या बुराई है कि भगवान हम पर हंसते हैं? हम किसी को हंसा सकें तो अच्छा है। वास्तव में भगवान हम पर हंसते हैं, हालांकि वह हमें सिखाते हैं कि हमें दूसरों के साथ हंसना चाहिए, दूसरों पर हंसना नहीं चाहिए। वह हम पर क्यों हंसता है? भगवान अपने आप पर हंसते हैं, क्योंकि वह हमारे भीतर हैं। जब हमें इसका एहसास होगा तो हम हमेशा खुद पर हंसेंगे। चाहे माहौल कैसा भी हो, हम हंसेंगे।
